The Captured G.B. - General Discussion

I don't think that's the point.  Copying is stealing intellectual property rights, but it's not what I'd call capturing (i.e as belligerents would do in a a war (hot or cold)) or impounding (as a neutral state may do in said war).

So i'd build a interned B-29 but not a copy (i.e. Tu-4).

Stealing internal, non-public IP (it's far more complex than stealing IP 'rights') from a competitor via
industrial espionage is very much an act of overt aggresion. Capitalism can be extremely cutthroat
and some seek advantage through any possible means, and has - in extreme cases, included coercion
that threatens physical harm to an employee of the target company, or that person's family, rather
than 'just' threats to career and reputation with the possibility of criminal prosecution. That's all in
the case of the use of an internal source, while direct outside attacks from professionals were rare in
the pre-computer age, today it's a constant threat.

The contest for advantage is real, and if you need to call it 'war' to satisfy your personal perceptions
of the world, then go ahead and do so.

Imagine that so many Fw-190D-9's where captured that the Soviets made a few squadrons, and even send two for operations against Japan in September of 45?

Having just watched a 'Look at Life' vid about the high altitude intercept of a Ju-86R by a specially modified Spitfire, I'm tempted to imagine that the -86R was crippled and had to land in England........ 

I've got a kit of an -86R at home, AND it has long wings OOB.

I am not sure I will participate to this GB, as I don't like nationalism and wars (and pretended enemy), so I will never build a model with roundels of another country, blamed, but... I could draw something as the mixes between P-38 and "captured" Fw-189, the results having orange US-prototype colour without roundel. Would that qualify for this GB?

I think that depends on the back-story. If nothing else I'm curious to see what story you come up with for this concoction

Something as that: "A captured Fw-189 was sent to the USA and testing it was disappointing, but before it was scrapped Lockheed engineers say those parts could improve the P-38 Lightning maybe"

rule 2: ....Whilst captured implies an armed conflict it might well be possible for you to work a scenario around a trade war, or another type of "Commercial Conflict"  ....

- Captured Icelandic trawler?
- Go Crimson Skies or Porco Rosso: the Air pirates were capturing each other's airplanes and airships.

Tophe, plenty of options for a non militaristic applications.  As already mentioned: vehicles confiscated by police units, pirates, captured equipment put into positive use (swords turned into plowshares as peace breaks out), racing, etc.  Use your imagination
