Almost immediately after posting the above it occurred to me that a longer fuselage and most likely higher airspeeds would require far less elevator and rudder surface area so I can see why you went that way with them.

Chris: No spirits, just me being careless & not putting it on a suitably stable surface.

Thanks, Caveman!

Thanks, Flyer (Brad?)! There should be a fair bit more speed with an R-2800 hauling it through the air. ;D

After a week of not touching this build (or any build for that matter) due to RW interference, I've started to build two resin radial engines;

1. The original Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp from the CA-13 Boomerang kit; &

2. The Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp that I'm putting in this build.

With the R-2800 pumping out a 75% increase in power over the R-1830, I'm expecting the CA-14 Sea Wallaby to move! ;D

A Double Wasp R2800?  One thundering great engine, hotly pursued by the airframe.    (As in the description of the Beaufighter " Two bl00dy great engines hotly pursued by an aircraft).

Some time ago, I made a  positive comment about the way this was progressing.  I can see no reason to change my mind.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Im adding a Wright R-2600 to a Fokker D.XXI, lol

I have an engine! ;D

The upper, most completed engine (it won't be fully complete until I've finished the engine mount bulkhead & figured out the exhaust lay-out), is the P&W R-2800 Double Wasp going into the Sea Wallaby, the other is the P&W R-1830 Twin Wasp that came with the Boomerang. The unpainted disc of resin is a spacer I'll need to add to create room behind the engine for the exhaust system.

Not much of a size difference from that angle. ;)

Now we're talkin'!

All that work & this is pretty close to what will be visible; :-\

Hopefully, there'll be a little more visible through the main u/c wheel wells & the cowl flaps.

Thanks, All!

But you know it's like that right? all that counts really in my view.

Lovely work though ---

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

With all that work on the Double Wasp, I'd be tempted to do a diorama where the engine is being replace!

Nope, no way! Not even tempted! :o

It's being built for the "Invasion of Japan/Japan '46" GB over on Beyond the Sprues, which ends in five days ... I've just asked for the 14 day extension to give me some hope of completing it closed up.

Doing all that fiddly stuff would add years to the build time! :banghead:
