Years ago also, I built a twin P-51B 1/144 but alas I thought no 1/144 P-51D was available. This year I found one such kit in China, and I ordered 2 copies immediately. Here is my first project with them, that may change:

I have removed from the sprues the parts I am going to use then I have started gluing:

There's only ONE wing there...............

Uh, this is not a wing-above part + wing-below part (like "of a single kit").
This is a wing above+below of one kit + wing above and below of the other kit.
(I do not mean this will be easy to build my biplane, a big truncation will be required)

And I am building little by little the 2 noses (without propellers nor engines nor guns):

I lost one canopy... (My workbench table is used also to put food after going to the supermarket, and maybe the missing clear part has gone somewhere in the fridge or freezer or been broken). So this model at last will be a single seater, which makes it asymmetric, good somehow, even more different from a "normal" Twin-Mustang...

After the first sanding, the (very little) double Mustang is taking shape:

After a new putty addition and second sanding, the fuselages have been glued together (yesterday, solid now):

I have started to paint the underside:
