Dear Diary,

Well that's the painting done, decalling and matt varnishing tomorrow.  After that the inevitable touching up - not much needed (hopefully) and post up photos of the finished item.

Then I think I'll return my attention to the Percival Puffin (https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=46667.msg848913#msg848913) and the CASA 2.217 (https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=42840.msg742565#msg742565).

Onwards and upwards!  Maybe.

I lied.  More in the finished builds thread but here are shots with the 'background build' Ta154.  Maybe when SIG members are able to reconvene at a model show we could have 'captured corner'?





Looking at them together I think the Ta154's 'Air Min' number would benefit from another coat of white - if only I could find my Matt White!  Also note the difference between the Medium Sea Grey used to 'overpaint' the German markings on the 154 and the RLM02 used on the 190.  In retrospect I wish I'd used RLM02 on the 154.  I'd have thought those slapping paint over the German markings would have been more likely to use 'captured' paints rather than Allied stock.  Ah well, it's whifworld after all.

They both look good!

The recovery crews would use whatever was at hand, be it German, French, Italian or English.

However, German paints were getting to be pretty low quality by the end of the war.

You're welcome, Knightflyer, and yes it's a Ju352.

Captured FW190Ds.  No I don't recall seeing anything in British markings, either - As, maybe Fs but not Ds (or Gs, IIRC).

I enjoyed browsing the links, but a small correction - the long wingtips come from another Junkers between the TA-152 and the Ju-352, it looks like a Ju-88 descendant?

A Ju188 methinks.  Based upon my recollection of a pic in Aeroplane.  Note the turret arrangement on the canopy, not on the 388.

And if you like the FW190D, Rick, then the Ta152C is just as smart.

The Ju 388 I'd in the photo. In the background under the Ta 152 cowl.  IIRC it's the V-6 prototype. All that's left of it now is one of the engines at Cranfield.

I'd have to check with the references, but I think there was a Ta 152H-3 proposed, possibly with the DB603.

The proposed H-2 and H-3 were to have the DB603G, only differing in radio fit.  Postponed due to the cancellation of the DB603G in '44.
The proposed H-8 and H-9 were to have the DB603L or LA, with two prototypes under construction, the Ta 152 V27 and V28.
