For this I'll be using the Brengun kit:

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Whilst work progresses slowly on the Skua, a chance discovery in the stash of the PM Model Spitfire Vb floatplane whilst searching for something else gives me the chance to build both the Vb and IXb in tandem, with two different end-users ;D

More progress on both the Mk.IX and Vb versions, including a scratch build cockpit for the PM Vb using the Brengun parts as templates

the sole mk !X float spitfire is still in some sort way still around. The sole survior true float spit has recently been found in lake windermere.

Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Why weren't the Mk Vs 'true float Spitfires'?

I'm amazed and pleased that it did survive.

My Dad saw the Mk Vs when they were testing in the Canal Zone, and I always thought he was having me on about floatplane Spitfires until I read up about them years later.  ;D

A little more progress with the Mk.V - the Mk.IX is not far behind on the production line

That would work well on the P-51 Mustang or Me-109. I'm not too sure if these were real world builds.

NARSES2

I do like those, especially the RAI scheme
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Both the Vb and IXb were built as prototype Floatplanes, but never entered service.
