Magic, a 'Got To Have' kit, that one, even if I'm not really meant to be buying any more.  ;D

Definitely.  I've fancied doing the car ferry for some time but with the only kits being vac-form or resin it's put me off.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Would it take RR Tynes?!  :P

Yes, Blackburn were thinking about this as an upgrade.  Borrowed from Secret Projects:

That would have made SO much sense, a pity they didn't actually do it.

The line crews would have loved it, loads less oil leaks to clean up from those pesky Centauruses, Centaurii?

Looking at the preview shots on the Britmodeller thread, it'll probably be pretty easy to do an engine mod.

Captain Canada

Great shots. The conversion looks simple enough.

Centauruses, Centaurii?

Centaurus, and there is more than one of them!

So what flew with Tyne's that we can rob them from?

The C-160, but you'd need two kits to get four Tynes. Revell and Heller have done the C-160.

Ah, yes, but they're in 1/72 scale..........  :banghead: :banghead:

Maybe the Airfix Vanguard? It has odd shaped nacelles but it may do the job.

Time wise. Nothing needed as the engine was in production then.
Kit wise, 1/144 scale, Airfix Vanguard.
What we need is some thoroughly disreputable, but well known to the SIG, resin duplicator.
Engines no problem but I do not know how good OGL is at doing props.
1/72 scale, any kit of the Transal.

The stock Centaurus engine props might do, they're pretty darn big and look good with their clipped tips.

Gondor

I was thinking of 1/144 to go with the forthcoming kit

I agree with Kit, the Beverley props should do, they look very similar in the diagram.

You'd need a pair of slipper tanks too, 1/72 Mosquito tanks might work?

Had a visit to Fort Paull at the weekend to see the old girl.  I'll post some pics when I get a chance.  There was also a large model of the B.107 'Super Beverley' that I haven't seen before, I'll post those pics too.

I found a quote on the Beverley Association site:
http://www.beverley-association.org.uk/html/259/exterior.htm

QuoteThe propellers are 16'6" De Havilland Hydromatic of hollow steel construction. They are fully feathering with auto-coarsing and reverse pitch systems. The reverse pitch gave the 'Bev' its incredibly short landing run, and was not available on the turbine engines of the day.

This doesn't explain the Tyne though, as it had reverse pitch.
