I found a much nicer build of this kit, by Jürgen Wagenknecht on Modellversium. He did all of the rigging and corrected some of the issues with the kit that I overlooked.

Personally I think there is more than enough rigging. A lovely job.

Great job.  I agree with the rigging, adding to much in 172 can drown a model due to the scaling.

I started with some "Rig that Thing" thread, but it was too stretchy and too thin. The painted nylon looks OK and was easy to work with. Getting in (or out of) the forward cockpit with all that rigging must have been tough...

The Lee-Richards kit (+ P-51 + putty) arrived today, and it is under the pine tree (till my birthday December 27th, this is paid by my parents as a gift, thanks).
While... most of all, thanks to frank2056 and his marvellous model that made me dream...
