Here's what I have done so far. I  may yet put a fuselage plug to the rear  or the bomb bay  to even it out a bit. I  need to source a third pair of engines and  pods for it as I  don't have any in the bits I  have. Lots more sanding and  cutting to be done and I am  going  to put an extra  45 mm on the wings too. A retractable tail wheel well will be cut into  the rear fuselage, with  quite a  long and substantial  tail gear. Gun turrets will be from a B-29 , the tail turret will  be a remote control  long barrelled  twin 20 mm system, and the chin will  get a twin or 4 gun turret.  Most of the windows will be filled in also. As well as the  shackleton tail I  am thinking of  putting  another  tail fin on the fuselage, I will have to see what I have that is suitable  for that. Standard  shackleton bomb bay, the front  will be blanked off. Wings will have external fuel tanks  fitted  to compensate for  additional  engines and  loss of tank space in the wings. Lengthened part of forward fuselage will be for crew amenities and some  fuel. The aircraft will be  pressurised  and air conditioned for high altitude  flying.  Please excuse the  state of the  workplace, I have been  building 2 other aircraft  as well.as cutting and  chiselling away at this thing.  This is going to be a long project I  think.

Good thinking there Chris.

I thought you  might approve of that modification Kit. In your opinion, do you  think  there is too much fuselage in front of the wings , as I  really  not looking forward  to extending the  rear fuselage, in the real world  it could be a bit  too front heavy  i am thinking.

The Australians put a HUGE nose on their Lincolns, so you can't be far out.

Fit a VERY heavy tail turret if people moan about it.  ;D

I could  put radar  in the fuselage  behind the  bomb bay  and 2 turrets  in the upper  lower and  tail of the fuselage.  They could  counter the  weight also perhaps  ;D

Very cool. I can send you a set of engines and nacelles from the frog kit.  Outer I presume ? Shoot me a PM.

I am going to  have a look at how Robert  lengthened the fuselage for  his build  and  see about  putting about 30 mm behind the wings, that should in theory  even it out if I can sort out how to do do it.

You should work out were the centre of gravity would be and basically put your wings there.  If that means moving them or adding more in front of the wings there should be an approximately equal amount behind the wings.  It all depends on where your main weight - I assume bombs - will reside.  They should basically be under your wings.

I'm pretty sure I've got some more Shackleton bits here if you need chunks of fuselage Chris?

IIRC it's parallel until just after the TE of the wings, so a cut there with more fuselage added in the gap should work.

Thanks Kit, that is  exactly what I need
The bomb bay is between the wings so? When  loaded at least, the CofG will be  there.
I started  rooting through the bits boxes last night looking for tail gun  turret parts, this should keep me quiet for a while as getting it to look right is easier  said than done.  All good fun  ;D

OK, luckily I'm at home right now, a LOT closer to my stock of Shackleton bits, so I'll dig some out.

One day I may even build a Shackleton.....  ;D

Little  bit of a progress update, the finished fuselage is now  465 mm long. Something for the engineers among you  to work  out its actual  length.  It is 1/72nd scale  too.

I have been doing a bit of work on the wings and  extra engines, the fuselage is  waiting for  holes to be drilled and  turrets  fitted, and a tail gun made and fitted.  The wings have been awkward  as I  used some sections of  shackleton wings, and they taper  down, a millimetre  to where I  cut them, I  hadn't seen this , but I  have put plastic card over the lower skin and quite a lot  of putty to equal the  sections out. Because of the extra engines I  decided to make the wing tips longer too to try and balance the wings out a bit.
