Haynes Books to cease publication

Haynes Publishing has been bought up by InfoPro Digital, an online publishing specialist in multi-media products and solutions. They have stopped the writing and production of all new Haynes works. I suspect they plan to turn them all into ebooks and sell them online. Infopro want to focus on professional titles they can sell for big money - oil specs, lubricants etc.
I suspect they will start publishing hardbacks again once the glut of unsold books has cleared the markets and don't look so cheap.

A lot of Haynes books being sold cheap in The Works were intended to be sold in the USA but didn't catch on. That's why we got titles like Saturn rockets, M4 Sherman, Spitfire, Lancaster, The Dad, Baby, Zombie Survival

The market for repair books for modern cars has dried up with extended warranties, sealed engines and complicated electronics that need laptops to solve errors.

If you want any Haynes titles then you'd best get in quick...

That won't do the classic car world any good at all.  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The Boss Man dies and the whole thing goes to pot. :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

A lot of the groups and specialists have been, or are moving, online with sites/forums
and Facebook, the information that is now out there is constantly increasing, especially
original works manuals etc. Stuff that used to be in the garage/shed of a few individuals
is now becoming widely available.

Change is inevitable.

Only this morning I saw details of their new manual for the B-36 and thought "must get one of them".

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Well, that didn't take long. Haynes manuals are sold out everywhere, and going for stupid prices (10x list price) on auction sites.

That's a drag. I have oft thought of purchasing some of those newer ones, as they seem interesting, and it would be fun to delve into the inner workings of things. But I have enough 'stuff' laying about.

Paper manuals used to so highly sought after, but alas, the digital world....
CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!

Where's my beer ?

I may have to amend that: on the Haynes site a bunch of them are still for sale. The one I was after is an older publication and OOP.

A friend of mine  has given me  as a Christmas present  the Haynes  Diary, motorcycle  enthusiast  edition.  I won't  be writing  in it as I want  to keep it pristine and  look after it. As well as the diary  bit , it has a page on conversion  factors  and several  pages  on Haynes and  Clymer manuals and a table with their BK number and whether  they are  online or not. Also a uk distance  table, so reasonably useful  too.

Haven't had a library customer ask for a car manual in years. Used to be all the time.
Whatever.
