reckons that a great many French historians write only  to show how clever they are and not to enlighten their readers.

I could name a couple of English historians who do that

I've got one excellent translation from the French of a treatise on the 100 Years War and for once the footnotes (where they are not simply stating the source) are on the same page as the piece they are referring to. Unfortunately the publishers haven't had these translated and they are in French. By the time I'd finished the book my French had improved remarkably  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

In the May issue of the magazine FlyPast you get a free copy of The War Archives D-Day "Allied Vehicles,  Aircraft & Equipment. Archive photographs and contemporary drawings.
There's plenty of cutaway drawings to keep any modeller happy or to improve their kit.

You do? I didn't get that in my copy! :(

Is that the one with the Sea Venom on the cover?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Mosquito Monograph by David Vincent

Basically a history of Australian Mosquito use and production. What are it for me was the chapter on 618 sqn, with several photos I've never seen, including two their Barracudas. They bent six and ditched another... There was also a full list of the Mosquitoes they took out there. No serial/code tie ups but I'm getting there.

Wasn't cheap but for the six or so photos, I think it was worth it.

I've amassed several Mosquito references recently, but this is easily one of the best.

I just got 'Vigilante!', a book about the RA-5C written by a USN Commander who flew them all through the Viet Nam war. LOADS of pics of Vigis taken from every possible angle and a very full history of the whole Vigi story.

Right up my street.

Mossie

Cold War Interceptor by Dan Sharp.

It's the RAF Secret Jets of Cold War Britain bookazine but in hardback.  It's the same info but with more pages and the drawings are laid out better, especially if anyone wants to have a go at scratch building any of the projects.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
