Happy birthday Mossie, I  treated myself to some books for my birthday  last month and my bike to s new battery  ;D
Cheers  Trevor, my hawk is going to  RAF and if I  can  resurrect the  part built one, that  will  be fleet air arm  late 1970's.  I have  some spare  sea harrier  decals that should  work.
Chris

   plans are afoot for these markings and yes they will look good on Hawks bar the Zimbabwe ones.  ;D ;D

BIG (for me anyway...) order arrived from the Big H today.

I haven't even LOOKED inside the AW52 box yet Chris, but I will do later and report back.  ;D

Lots of little radar pods in the small packets, one of which will end up on the Sea Monsoon, whichever one fits, the rest will await other uses in the future.

I have no plans for the Viggen yet, but I didn't know that anyone did the recce version, so it was a Must Buy for me.

I don't suppose that kit comes with a set of four-bladed props you don't need, does it? I wasn't paying attention and got a AC-130 that only comes with the three-blades variety. :(
Thanks!

Ditto.  One of my LHS have them in stock and I am troubled with thoughts of adding a fuselage and conventional tail.
They also have the Dora Wings 1/72 Pilatus Turbo Porter.  An aircraft i've wanted a model of since I saw Air America.  It's expensive but...

Interestingly the AW-52 is already out of stock at the Big H and is back on their "backorder" list

Yet another AZ MB6 from eBay. Despite all those spare fuselages and wings I STILL didn't have enough bits to do a whole MB6 and MB5! :(

Now I have.  ;D

The ancient Heller outing in all of its boxings contains necessary the parts for early AJ, SF, & Sk variants (external differences in SH version were negligible compared to AJ so that too, if you don't mind missing the camera pods). Even though the most recent boxings are labelled as JA only, it still includes all the parts to build the other versions, the "JA" part of the kit is in the form of a small extra sprue.

Arguably, the JA boxing is that in name only and represents the other versions much more faithfully - it does have a crude version of the conformal KCA gun pod and Sidewinders & Skyflashes with launch rails (the tall fin was also used on Sk so is on the original sprues), but it lacks the JA specific fuselage extension (which would require in 1:72 a 2mm plug between the canards and the wing), the four-finned instead of three finned belly tank, the elevons don't get an extra actuator, and in the cockpit the instrument panel and the ejection seat are unchanged.

Of course, later developments like chaff/flare disepensers integrated to the rear part of the main wing pylons are not included at all, so out of box the Heller kit represents an early model up until about mid-80's. It also lacks all the things under the wings apart from the belly tank and the JA loadout (even the recce pods carried by the SF & SH are missing), so those would have to be sourced from other kits or aftermarket.

That said, it's still the second best kit available in 1:72 (and usually far cheaper than the Special Hobby kit), ahead of Matchbox's (repopped by Revell) surprisingly passable AJ and Sk boxings which do have missiles in them (AJ has Rb 04's and Rb 05's, Sk only Rb 04's). Both are still far ahead of Hasegawa and Airfix which represent the prototypes and the mock-up, lacking the area-ruled dorsal spine and having all the the antennae and access panels in the wrong places.

That's VERY useful, thanks so much.

I don't think I've ever seen a Heller Viggen of any sort, but I really should build a RW JA version as I installed the fatigue test rig upgrade for it in  Linkoping in 1978-9.

[Later] Some of the prices people are asking for Heller Viggens on eBay are RIDICULOUS! Over £130 in one case, and then they have the nerve to charge almost £17.00 for postage!

The Wooksta!

eBay says I've won the quartet of Tamiya kits I was bidding on - one each of their spitfires, a mustang and a Mosquito NF.XIII. That's what I was really after, the others are a bonus.

I've a few of them anyway but an extra one isn't going to hurt and it's a hard one to find now.

Hehehe, hell NO! It was a 47 channel rig, with zillions of whiffletrees as well. That'd be one MASSIVE job!  :o
