Airfix Seaking.

Just under $20 after shipping... ol' boy knocked off $5 to make it that way so I figured what the hell. Been a good while since I bought a kit. This is great for getting into the spirit of things for the GB.  ;D   I don't plan on using it any time soon and may not anyway; I rather like it as a part of my "this is a neat kit" collection just to sit around on display. It's sealed and quite nice! Looks like a whif right in the box and even mentions "prototype model" and there's no official, real world agency on it. N-number is also fictitious. It does have that decal up front (that has a couple reindeer/elk and a pine tree) that says "In God We Trust"  which adds interest in an anachronistic type of way sort of like seeing decals of tobacco products; they're things of the past and of their time.  Comes with the little figures, too, which is always welcome!!

That's the 1969 Airfix mould according to scalemates.
Wonder if it still has the torpedos and the dunking sonar.  Great Lakes PD?

Today I received from BNA ModelWorld some paints.  some glue, Eduard PE set for the Tamiya Pibber and this;

I like the weathered engine cowling on the box art.  I really must build some of these WW1 aircraft I keep buying.

Great lakes PD! Hmmm... that sounds pretty cool. I'll have to look around at sprue pics for this boxing and see if that stuff is included.

Here's the stuff inside. Are them things on the left side the torpedoes?

Yes, they're torps and depth charges.

The original kit was a USN SH-3 with a '63' buzz no. but as soon as Armstrong and Aldrin got back from the moon they changed the decals to '66' as that was the main recovery chopper they seemed to use for the moon returnees.

Nice..... thanks, bruh! That's pretty cool....  most definitely more prestige involved with retrieving astronauts so I can understand the change.

My much anticipated  Micro- Mir Armstrong whitworth A.W 52 has just been  dropped off, and it got here a lot quicker than I expected. No customs fees and a hell of a lot cheaper than any other kits I have seen for sale, even with the postage included. Marvellous. Going off its size I  am thinking stopgap  nuclear bomber  in anti flash  white.

All you have to do now is build it Chris..........................  :-\

I had a parcel from the Big H this morning containing an Airfix Lightning F6 (the one with no tailplanes on the box art. One day I'm going to build one just like that.  ;D) and a Valom Twin Pioneer. The latter is in a HUGE box, not quite sure why it needs to be that big really.

Good luck with that twin Pioneer  Kit,  its not the best fitting kit. (Understatement  mode off). ;D

And as an option for '66', you get a catch net and a seated figure to put on it.

Back in the day, I quite liked the idea you could loop some string around and use the main rotors to wind up/down either the sonar or catch net.
Of course, at that age, it never actually worked as I had hoped! ;D

Splurged on a number of Mosquito decals on ebay:
Printscale - I know they are apparently hard to use but as bad as say Propagteam?
Bestfong- only ones to do Chinese Nationalist
Eaglecal
Xtradecal
Blackbird

Edit:  Apparently I already have the Blackbird sheet and I've ordered one of the Eaglecal sheets twice.  No matter.  Spare serials, always handy.  And sometimes duplicate sheets are useful to have as manufacturers tend to vanish, annoyingly.

Arrived today! ;D

Swordfish looks as good in the box as I expected (& I had high expectations for this one).
Master Box figures come in the same size boxes as their 4 & 5 figure sets. :o
The resin Evolution Miniatures figure comes in a box about 1/16th the size of a Master Box box. ;)
