Not exactly a kit stash growth, but a tool stash growth.

I've just got a 2nd hand Dremel tool set, complete with flexi-drive, drill stand, spare batteries and charger for a RIDICULOUS price.  ;D ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I've always been put off power tools because of the fear of them melting the plastic Kit, are they ok to use ? or do you have to be really careful with them ?

Just keep the RPMs at decent levels, and do not force the drill bits into the material. Otherwise you can hardly do something wrong - even though a flexi-drive is direly recommended for the Dremel tool, because it is IMHO quite large and unwieldy for delicate jobs. I personally prefer a lighter engraving tool. Has less torque, but is from personalö experience easier to handle and takes the same tools and rill bits as the bigger Dremel thing.

As Dizzyfugu says, something with a variable speed is esential. Diferent materials require differnt speeds as do the bits you use. A Dust mask would be a good idea if too.

This one's got all the bells and whistles, variable speed, variable torque, and a hefty lever on the drill press bit to lower it REALLY carefully.

Sorry Alastair, I didn't remember your 'Toolbox' thread. :(

I started it for exactly this reason Kit but I don't try to own it, just point out that it's there to use.

What Dizz says about Dremels.  I can see how a lighter engraving tool would be an advantage.

I got these today from Metro Hobbies in Melbourne.

Got home from a few days away for work and found a nice pair of KMC 1/48 Tiny Tim rockets that will hang from the wings of the Aleutian Anti-Shipping Hellcat I'm finally getting back to.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

At long last my set of Evergreen styrene tube arrived today, ordered from Amazon on March 4th.

It came from AUSTRIA, for crying out loud, in this HUGE box! [Note the Scale Reference Cat for sizing purposes, and the tube itself in the foreground]

How much of the world's resources that shipment use up when a small carboard tube would have done the job just as well?
