Sounds daft I know, but I feel you do notice the wheels on a Spitfire for some reason ?

Because they retract outwards the wheels are always on view when they're on the ground, whereas with most other types, Hurricane, Mustang, Fw-190, Zero etc, they're covered by the wheel doors?

Yeah, I know the Me-109 is similar.  ;D

The Spit is a brazen hussy who exposes her ankles without a care

Somewhat disappointing arrival from eBay...

1/48 Tamiya A-1H
1/48 Tamiya F-15A
1/48 Tamiya F-84G
1/48 Tamiya Fw190
1/48 Tamiya Zero
1/72 Tamiya F-84G

The seller described the lot as "Mint".  The listing pics showed a little wear on several of the boxes, but I assumed the kits inside would be in good shape.

The Skyraider is just a box of small parts, many off the sprues and some painted. No fuselage...no wings...no cockpit...

The Zero box is also more badly damaged than the listing shows.

Very disappointing since the main reason I bid on the lot was for the Skyraider and F-15.  The seller has offered to refund 1/6 of the purchase price, but not any of the shipping, which was considerable.  He claims that when he listed them as "mint" he had taken a quick look and thought that "most" of the parts were present".  Seems a poor way to check that something qualifies as "mint" condition.

 :banghead:
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Gondor

To me "Mint Condition" means that even the box is still in the clear packageing if that's how they were shipped and certainly if not that the box is still sealed. Opened and started is not "Mint"!

I'm not supprised that your not happy.

Mint specifically means perfect condition.  If it's short of that, then it's mis-sold.  Get eBay to mitigate, they won't mess about.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Second that. Sad thing is that you have to alert 3rd parties in this case, otherwise people don't get it. :(

zenrat

That old chestnut.  A worn box is not mint and a reputable seller doesn't make assumptions (we all know what they are the mother of).  The seller is trying it on.
Complain to Evil-Bay (just memorably described on the TV comedy we are watching as "the devil's department store").

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

NARSES2

Agree with what's been said. Seller is trying it on and needs to be referred to E-Bay
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Some  type  D post war RAF  roundels arrived this morning,  from antics online.  Talk about half measures as the sheet is a  quarter of the  size of what decal sheets usually are. I  think I  will just stick to buying full aircraft decals.  :-X

You're always going to have a problem because no current decal manufacturer does a decent set of Type D decals. Even the Xtradecal one isn't a full sheet, it's half full of 80s toned down roundels. Surely they would have thought that someone buying 50s roundels would be buying the sheet for that alone? Appparently not.

I'd suggest trying to find an old Model decal sheet, but whilst they were good in their day, the technology has moved on. They're too thick and the glue leaves a residue that's hard to remove and turns yellow with age.

Cheers  Lee, I  have had a couple of the xtradecal sheets  too, and they are only half useful to me. Hopefully  someone  will bring out a full sized sheet of roundels, and soon.
