Hmmm,
I do like the look of that Jaybee, just wondering if the fingers can handle the fiddly bits as I am tempted. What are the parts like is there lots of fiddly bits?
Chris

For a tank in this scale yes some bits appear just a little bit fiddly.
The tracks are length and link, not stretchy soft plastic stuff, and as you have four sets of running gear, what can I say
Two sheets of PE parts, but to call them sheets is a travesty. They are only about one inch long, any PE is fiddly but at least in this kit there is precious little of it.

I had the same concerns as yourself about the ability of finger/eye co-ordination but I do believe this one is doable. (Where is the fingers crossed Emoji when you need it?)
Thanks  JayBee,
Is the P.E a necessary  part  of the kit or just  an extra,  I am not a  fan of P.E and it has made me putty armour  builds away forever. I think I  will probably leave it be, for now at least.

Scalemated has a PDF of the instructions sheet The PE seems to be for the headlight guards, IR illuminator support, a grab bar on the turret and several small squares for the driver's vision ports. I think you could skip them or replace with small scraps of plastic.

Here's a nice full build video of one of the tanks in this kit. I'm more concerned about the tracks; they don't look difficult but there are so many of them - 8 sets if you build both tanks as tanks.
Thanks for the  info Frank, much appreciated
I am  tempted  yet again by one, I will have a go at building some armour when I  get back to  modelling again, as I  have been giving all my attention to  the new dog.
Cheers
Chris

Thanks from me Frank for that link to the build video. Excellent.
What a great trick for getting the single links to fit together. My head is full of all sorts of modelling tricks and tips, it has now got another one.

At least they're not individual link, like Womby's 1/35th one he's building for the Blue Lights GB

Gods, what I wouldn't have done for some nice link-&-length tracks!

Actually, the indy tracks turned out to be less trouble than I expected, probably because they aren't "workable" & I made them into link-&-length sections (which is what the instructions said to do - so, why not just supply link-&-length???).

For 1/72, link-&-length would be good for this kit. Rubber-band tracks don't give the sag needed & can be a HUGE pain in the posterior to glue into position to simulate that sag - an issue I can only surmise would be even worse for the Obj. 279 - plus they don't ever look as accurate.

I shall have to come up your way and do the same one day.

A friend in my club has just built that same Dora Wings Lysander and was not a happy bunny. It does turn out very nice but apparently there's a lot of fiddly parts. Photo etch in the cockpit was the worst. He did a lot of test fitting and tab making just to get it together.
He recommends getting a good reference book and walkaround photos to help. See also Airfix mag June 2020.

From what I've read it's a kit that tries your patience especially when it comes to fitting the wings.

Nice to have 3 places to be able to even contemplate getting to in one day  :-\. Maybe we should set it up as a "Charity Challenge", sort out what pubs are in-between them, get Midland's Today (or whoever) involved etc  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

And watch the piles of purchases getting larger and the kits getting more expensive, after each pub visit...   ;D

Experience... not with pub crawls, but on every holiday when I trawl through the model shops I tend to be like that, especially as the end of the trip draws nearer...  :banghead:

On the way from Alan (dadlamassu):

1× 1/600 Airfix Mayflower Blue Striped bagged kit
1x 1/72 Revell SE 5a
1× 1/72 Airfix Sopwith Pup 1917
1× 1/72 Revell De Havilland DH2
"Mind that bus." "What bus?" *SPLAT!*

Arrived this afternoon 2 kits from Dadlamassu's stash clearance, airfix 00 scale centurion tank and a PM F-5 in 1/72nd scale. The tank will be a tester to see if I can handle the little bits, I have been struggling with some on my buccaneer build and ended up loosing 2 aerials off it, so should be fun. The F-5 will be donating its engine nozzles to one of my Hawk 200's, and the forward fuselage will be part of an aircraft kit bodge that has been charring the saw dust that resides in my bonce  ;D

The Wooksta!

Arrived via eBay
Hasegawa Spitfire mk VIIII
Tamiya F4U Corsair
Tamiya Spitfire Vb
And best of all
Tamiya Mosquito XIII/XVII

I was the latter I was after, although I can find uses for the Corsair and the Mk.VIII. The Vb is going in the disposal box. Nice kit, but iffy Spitfire.

The Mosquito is to convert to either an NF.XXX or NF.36, haven't quite decided yet. Real though. And I'm minded to do a 29 sqn aircraft.
