SWMBO came through on the birthday present front.  1/72 Airfix new tool RN Buccaneer.  Looks beautiful in the box!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Dizzyfugu

Got a cheap Fujimi 1:72 AH-1S (Revell re-boxing, though) as a donor piece for an idea for the upcoming "Gunships" GB - if this idea turns out to be eligible, though...

Must admit I've been tempted by one myself even though I build few jets. The Buccaneer has always been a favourite

Hope you have/had a good one mate

Thanks gents!  It was a great birthday weekend. Now treating myself to a little getaway to escape the North Carolina heat. Currently sipping a pint killing time in the Boston airport and hoping the employee travel gods keep smiling on me and I am bound for Reykjavik in about 5 hours.  Do we have any Icelanders on the board??  I don't recall.

Hopefully you won't get too warm a reception considering that there is one very active and one close to being active volcano there. Have a good time all the same

A Zvezda 1:72 88mm Flak 36/37 for a fictional Heer '46 SPAAG, probably based on a Trumpeter E-75 tank.

I finally found a 1/144 scale model of the Bervie Be-200 amphibious flying boat at a reasonable price and some thin sanding sticks. A change of decals will be required.

What appears to be becoming my weekly aid parcel from the Big H arrived this morning and contained the following :-

New tool Special Hobby P-40M Warhawk/Kittyhawk Mk III and a set of CMK canopy/wheel masks for it. Looks very nice on the sprues (on a par with the Me 109's) and I originally fancied the RNZAF example on the box top, but am moving towards the RAAF example now I've seen the markings.

KP Hawker Tempest Mk V, RNZAF boxing. Looks very nice on the sprues, definitely a new tooling. They've dealt with the differences between the Mk V/VI and Mk II by providing a separate forward fuselage section for the engines and cut outs/inserts for the wing radiators of the Mk II, so the fit of the engine in particular will make or break the kit. Hopefully I'll see shortly as it looks so nice in the box it may well get moved up the build list.

Ebay says I've won that Superscale sheet I was bidding on for RAF Aces.  There's a Mosquito on it and I know I haven't got that sheet.  Sadly, I think the distructions for the colour scheme are way off and the colours on the markings themselves are quite simply wrong. We shall see.

Edit:  They definitely got the scheme for the postwar 4 Sqn Mosquito (RS679 UP-A) wrong on their Mosquito sheet, as I have a photo of the aircraft in question and it's as Modeldecal and later Freightdog got right.  Having said that...  I've seen a profile of the aircraft in the scheme that Superscale have plumbed for and I do know that the whole squadron (8 aircraft in the post war period) were repainted in supposedly the same scheme (MSG over night but they couldn't get enough of the former so some had a darker upper grey as period photos display) for a flypast over the UK.  So the scheme may actually be correct.  I'd like to do it anyway as it looks rather fetching - MSG/Dark Green over Night - and with the Yellow/Blue letters and the post war roundels it does certainly look rather colourful.

Delivery from the Big H today:

2 sets of LF Models paint masks for the F-4 in Vietnam. Should make it easier to finish my Phantom pair that's been sat for 5 years

Blackbird Model Decals sheet for Argentine Neptunes and Skyvan. Gives me the option to do my Shackleton as a naval bird should I wish.

The Wooksta!

Nick, I did find a set of the SAM Argentina/Egypt Lancaster decals but as I suspected, they're shot.  TBH, they're really thick anyway and have that weird glue that turns a horrible brown with age.  Go for the Blackbird decals as they're at least with better glue.

I'm sure I have a partial set of the Xtradecal ones somewhere, but where...  Lap of the gods.

Two Revell (ex Matchbox)1:72 M.D. Mystère IVAs, one for The Stash™ (it was quite cheap), the other one to be built more or less OOB in the colors of a South-American operator.

Thanks for looking mate. I'm good for Argie decals now!

That's actually a very nice little kit. I have one waiting for a somewhat colonial backstory on the shelf.
