Bristol type 168 utility and training helicopter .

Built  to a Royal navy specification for a  small light/compact helicopter  to train pilots and use for liaison and utilities, that could  also be stowed away on ship. Powered by  a rotary  piston engine  with easier to  work on access and components.
This helicopter  is the first  delivered to  the Royal navy flying  school  to be evaluated. Nit sure what kit it is but it is a mil mi-1 . It needed a few bit repairing  as all 3 blade had snapped off  so I  pinned them. It s a bit basic and rough, but I am not bothered, it will  do.

Always had an eye on doing something 'British' with one of those earlier Russian helicopters because the '1950s' look seems almost interchangeable between East and West (think Mi-4 / Whirlwind which I think some-one has done?) You've proved it works again, and very well Definitely want to steal your idea and run with it!

Cheers, I have  an mi 4 in the pile waiting to be  built as such.  I am  tempted to change the  landing gear arrangement on mine  and  have it set up similar to the wessex.

It has  quite a  bit of interior detail  and the plastic isn't  thick and brittle, plus the landing gear is metal.. so I think that would be  well out of VEB's league  they have done a fair few  Russian helicopters  from what I have seen though.

I was going to say that it sounds as if someone had produced aftermarket parts for it, but in my experience the best aftermarket part for a VEB kit would probably be another kit by a different company.

Having built (or tried to...) a few VEB kits in my time I know EXACTLY what you mean there!

I have had a root through my  pile of instructions and the kit is a Gran one. I have built several of their  vehicles  before now, they are typical  short run Russian/  Eastern European  kits.
