The Rat

#15
Icy Toronto morning, Rat sits down at keyboard with coffee.

Sees Martin's cryptic post.

Is reminded of Thor's P.1216

Flips to Martin's page and sees model he's often thought about doing himself.

Sees the Captain's latest offering.

Tries to sip coffee, begins sputtering.

Whimpers and moans.

Buries head in folded arms and whines to wife.

QuoteWell most of u will have seen it already on my site. so for those who havent heres the link Twin Boom Whirlwind
So wonderful      , I will post the picture with the adress with the Twin-Whirlwind topic, so much enriched by this pod-and-booms P-38-like version.
Martin, are you the one that built it? or just the photographer? Anyway, this is a wonderful discovery. :)

Congratulations!!! :)  You know... the Wirlwind bird was one of my favourite airplanes of all times, but alas, this was not a twin-boomer :( .
I imagined I may build a twin-fuselage one, but a pod-and-booms seemed impossible. It was for me, but not for Master Martin! Thanks to let us admire this Higgs-westland beauty, without jealousy for our loving eyes...

QuoteBronco-Cobra autogyro?
Yes, a twin-boom autogyro is possible, 90 copies have been built of the Jovair/McCulloch/AeroResources J-2. You can have a good view on her below (on the aircraft I mean...).

QuoteTodd my mate that Cobra/Bronco combo is SWEEEEEET!
So are you calling it a Bronbra or a Coco?
I forsee that your Coco will be RCAF, yes?
Maybe that could be a Canadian Department of Fire BroncoCo, no?

And that is not stupid, look: how do you estinguish a candle? Mouth-air blowing out! How do you estinguish an oil-derrick in fire? Dynamite-flush blowing out! How will we estinguish a Canadian forest in fire? Rotor-flush blowing-out! :)

Mines nearly done as the 1216 was done before this build started (i think), so heres the work done this week (started last weekend) on the Hawker 1214-3 "X-Wing". Still to be detailed and primmed but the basic shapes all there and together now. B)

So Wonderful 1214+1216 couple... How lucky is UK having top-engineers drawing birds like that, having top-modellers building such marvels... British people should build a high wall over the Channel to avoid crowds of fans invading to admire and clap their hands...

Now that thing is wicked cool!

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Tophe, that's a California Department of Forestry Bronco...

;)

And be careful with a chopper above a forest fire, you'll fan the flames with the rotor wash.

Quotebe careful with a chopper above a forest fire, you'll fan the flames with the rotor wash.
I know it is not easy, Ollie. In order to increase fire in a chimney are gentle blowing device (fans?) while children blow out the candle on their birthday cake. It seems contradictory but it is not. It reminds me the effect of diluting acids: adding water makes acid burn more and more, then less and less and disappear. It is well known in pharmaceutical industries: dose-effect curve is going up then down as the quantity raises. I was just joking, dreaming: what if the rotor could blow out the fire? Of course Reality would have turned me wrong, as most often... :)

To blow out a forest fire you'd need a Harrier, or something like this:

- that's a T-55 tank with two MiG-21 engines, it's used to put out oil well fires.

Wouldn't those Hawkers 1214/1216 be awfully susceptible to torsion?
