Clear sprue is often a good starting point, depending on scale, of course.

Right on.... thanks for the advice, I'll start there. I often toss most sprue but always save the clear stuff. As luck would have it, the -last- time I built an Arii kit (which is what the Cessna for this GB would be) I just so happened to use a bit of clear sprue and colored the base of it red to glue on top of my Bonanza as the position light. It didn't work the way I envisioned but I managed to get the shape right. Painting the base of it red did nothing to make the piece "look" red but I'm positive I can achieve tinting them now with all the stuff I've learned since then. This was maybe.... the third? build I had done since re-starting the hobby. You can just baaaaarely see the light  here:

I've secured the kit from my stash and have it on the ready! Transfers as well....  I'll likely add more from the decalstash to provide some identifying nomenclature rather than using straight generic markings. I should at least add an abbreviation akin "USAF" to represent the governing agency. I mean.. it's not a toy, I can't just have it say "Police" on the side.  ;D It has to be someone's police. Perhaps in some alternate universe the civil air patrol evolves into a legit gov't law enforcement agency or something....

I have at least four ides/projects that appear eligible for this GB, including aircraft, mecha and even (*gasp*) a large-scale car. Right now digging through the piles to find the kits and donors...

I definitely want to see a regular ol' car with the fugu applied.

No pressure, please, this will be something of a personal challenge. Do not expect too much!  ;)

Wouldn't the Cessna need to have the 'HO engine option' though?

Like Python grafted onto the nose.  ;) ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Funny, I had a very similar inspiration/idea - one of my builds will be an Arii 1:72 Cessna 336 in police service. ;)
Finally an idea and good occasion for this kit in The Stash™, and also a measure to reduce it...

Unless you want to use a jet trainer like the LAPD's T-38

Thinking out loud, there's these blue light services in the UK:-   Police  (including the diplomatic protection group, Mod Plod etc), Fire and Rescue, Ambulance/First Responder/ Paramedic/Doctor, Coastguard, Mountain Rescue (and similar search teams), Cave and Mine Rescue,  RNLI and similar independent lifeboat services.

I'm not sure whether the Radiological Protection Group counts, but there's one such team at Sellafield. Fishery Protection Officers do have powers of arrest, so could one include them too?

In other countries I suppose we can add  Avalanche  Rescue, Desert Search,   Civil Defence,  and possibly  International Ice Patrol (you know, the one set up after the Titanic hit the iceberg)

What have I missed out?

I haven't consulted with crudebuteffective on this but my personal opinion is that builds need to be uniformed personnel & marked vehicles, otherwise one could make a figure of some long-haired hippy & a Pinto & say it's an undercover cop, or some guy/girl in a suit & a black SUV & say they're a Police VIP Protection officer.

Not saying they're not cool ideas but it's not what I envisage for this GB.

There's probably an Earthquake Rescue Service in Japan and similar places.

They carry BIG shovels...................  ;)

Blood and Organ transport.  NHS Blood Donation cars are quite strikingly marked, I believe most organ transport is carried out by ambulances.

Bomb disposal:

HM Customs:

The UK Emergency site is worth a good browse and covers some small and niche services.  There are several none blue light services that provide emergency response, RNLI Lifeguards, Oil Spill Response aircraft are two I can think of.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I had similar thoughts enter my mind....  like the Crown Vics with their "Interceptor" cars.  ;D

That would be sweet!!!   Some good ol' Arii action for the GB.
