Humbrol still do 85 Coal Black. The real question is "Why the everlasting &$%@ is it listed after all the other Matt colours on Page 4 of the chart?"

Because 85 (and 71, too) is a semi-matt tone. For unfathomable reasons, Humbrol (and others like RoG or Tamiya, too) traditionally organizes the list by gloss level and not by the consecutive numbers...  :banghead:

So how does the whiff look so far? I imagine the "patient compartment" looking like the Space Shuttle when the doors were open.

That's pretty well exactly how it will look when it's done, yes. But it'll be yellow as it's an ambulance.  ;D

I feel reminded of this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xa7Bgj0y3eg  ;)

I could cite everything *wrong* that the Top Gear crew did (which would be boring), but I will admit that I actually sympathize with James.

;D ;D

I was thinking of 'delivering' my casualties by rolling the Lightning and dropping them from the open pod doors, but maybe the 'A-5 Style' ejection may be even better. AND I don't have to modify the tail of the model.  ;D

The most recent Humbrol paint chart I have is for when they came out with the new dropper bottles - just before Lockdown 1 ? - and it's a lot shorter then the previous ones I have, although 85 is still on there. They definitely seem to have reduced the range.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

If you relocated the fuel tank to where your "Passenger compartment" is and used what was the fuel tank for the passenger then you would just need a door/hatch to wheel the stretcher in or out, no needing a crain to lift them up to at least wing height to get them in or out.

It's a bit late now, the hatches are cut, the 'casualty ejection port' is clear and the stretchers have been built.............  ;)

Dropping the patient out while inverted might be rough on the vertical stabilizer, and the patient.......

I can see that you'll have to still eject the patient out the back whilst inverted, as that'd be less rough than frying him/her with the jet exhaust. ;)

Unless the patient capsule is covered in shuttle grade thermal tiles.

Exactly!  ;D

You should see the colour scheme I've just worked out for it.  ;D

Why are Coal Black and Oak out of sequence in this list? https://uk.humbrol.com/support-and-advice/advice/humbrol-wallchart

71 and 85 should be at the start of the Satin colors, not at the end of the Matt colors.

I've spent all day doing the decals for this thing, acres and ACRES of yellow and green. Not the easiest decal sheet I've ever done either, and now I've found it won't print properly.................... :(

The bright green spreads across onto the yellow areas so I'm having to print them separately, very wasteful in decal paper and ink, but hey, it's only money.....
