Slammer Kits

Always good to have a few of these in the stash in case of emergencies.  What are your recommendations for any kits that go together quickly with minimum fuss?

for me 1:35 Tamiya chieftain and challenger1  the chieftain is as old as me ( possibly older) and fits like a dream.. its one failing is that it has the original style gun crutch, not the clamp that was used, but from the front it looks fine ! ( to be honest any of the Tamiya armour kits ive done have been that good)

The old Walker Bulldog kit is pretty good. I've built a couple and never had any problems. Price is right too.

Realised I have one in the stash, Tamiya Zakspeed Capri.  It's an older car kit of theirs, no engine and a Spartan racing interior.  Painting is simple with all the markings being decals.  Shouldn't take long to build at all.  I've got an Italeri/Esci Transit as well which should be similar.

Some other Tamiya cars and motorbikes have the same build quality, but I wouldn't class them as slammers due to the amount of detail to be built and painted.

I'll second the old Tamiya 1/35 Walker Bulldog; an old kit, but it builds up nicely. An ejoyable kit.

A good SF kit is the 1/32 Alpha Centauri UFO Short Range Saucers from Pegasus Hobbies. Cheap, fun and quick to build.

Tamiya - M113 as long as your not too concerned about the interior.

Trumpeter - unusually, most of their armour kits are pretty easy to build although you'd more than likely want to leave out of building most of the interior detail.

Dragon - I know an unusual choice but many of their armour kits, particularly their armoured cars are fine and quite easy to build.  Avoid their tanks though...
