Tried without success to find a cutaway drawing, but found some text that stated there is a 120 US gal fuel tank at that location, I will throw out a guess that it's a easy access panel to remove the tank for drainage if it becomes contaminated with water while in a remote location, maybe... Sounds plausible to me.

Thanks mate.  The moulded texture almost looks like a radiator so I wondered, until I saw that picture, if it was a flush oil cooler or similar.
Easilly accessible fuel tank makes sense and means that as it is an access panel I shouldn't paint it differently to the rest of the underside of the wing.

Every year the northern Ontario community of Red Lake has a Norseman festival, where a lot of flying examples congregate in tribute. It's over 21 hours driving from the Toronto area, but one day I'll make it.

There ought to be the odd Toronto-based Norseman to hitch a ride with?

I've seen some at fly-ins, but I don't know of any based around here. Might check the register for owner addresses, but they could be a company based here and operating far north.

I might get this finished before the original end-date of the GB.  However I am having coverage issues with the White acrylic I am using to touch up the scars left when I popped out the windscreen.  The paint came off right down to the bare plastic.
Once that is done painting the anti glare panel, exhausts, prop, and wheels should be easy.

My faith is strong brother.  It's just a case of adding enough layers of paint.

I had some serious issues doing the white theatre band on my current 109 build. Always struggle with white applied by brush, but this AV Vallejo stuff was ridiculous  :-\

I pretty much use nothing but Vallejo acrylics on my aircraft.  Coverage is usually pretty good but there are a few which struggle.  Steel Blue is one and Gloss White is another.
If it doesn't cover then plan B is to paint the entire roof silver.  This would be a practical measure anyway to reflect the heat of the Australian sun.

Old car modellers trick - If you got a paint flaw you can't fix, put a decal over it.

The AFDS (Australian Flying Doctor Service) lettering is covering where the paint came off.

Looking good mate

From some angles it has the look of one of my great nieces favourite cartoon characters.

Great job, Fred!

But it still reminds me of a cartoon rodent! ;D
