One comment...would the backstory benefit from a propulsion change to the Reaction Engines SABRE engines?  Would fit the look of the model perfectly.

I needed a plausible reason for the two sets of intakes, to avoid having to do some radical surgery. The SABRE uses the same inlet through all phases of flight. Also I wanted to keep the required technology as simple as feasible - this is the UK after all!

That's the best use of the Minerva that ive seen yet. I bought the Cordoba from the same series and have been umming and  ahhing as to get the Minerva or not.  I really like the overall design of the ship and the wing angles are really aggressive. The engines are cool too but what really puts me off is that off shaped cockpit section. On the kit, is that molded on or seperate? Without it, you've made it look so much bigger. I also think the grey over black really works well on this ship

It is separate and comes as two parts - the forward "conning tower" in blue plastic and the rest of it, or "sail" part, in white plastic. Leave it off and you have a shallow oval depression in the upper fuselage (which I painted white) and a semi-circular hole on top of the nose section (which I filled in, where the "2" is).

This is a snap-together kit - quite well-engineered as you would expect from Hasegawa. If I can find the instruction sheet (!) I will post it.

Wow - this really is a great re-imaging of this kit. I had the same reservations as Madhatter about the conning tower; good to know it's a relatively easy fix.

I love the look of this. I realised it was the Minerva about halfway through the pictures, but didn't twig the changes completely until I saw the original box art. I already like the Minerva design... but I prefer the look without the 'conning tower' as you put it; it's much more sleek and sexy that way. I'm inspired!! I really want to try something similar myself!
The backstory was great too, fantastic concepts and ideas.

This one is actually way better than that original model, if I have to trust on the box art. The well-told back story and putting it in a credible nearby future makes it even plausible to be true.
Great work! It makes me curious about the other "Thunderbirds".
