Project settled and prepared (kit from The Stash™ and suitable decals ready): a "simple" aircraft model, built basically OOB but with a fictional operator and maybe some small, cosmetic mods.

That's all it takes to produce a satisfying build, isn't it.

A good project choice is essential for just a single week to go!  ;)

I'm not sure I'll have anything to enter for the 1 Week Build this time I'm afraid.

I've got an RW slot car build that I'm working on, for an event on July 4th, and it's taking up pretty well all of my modelling time.

I'll just rest on my laurels from last year's event.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

I've got a kit on order, it should arrive about a week before the start time, if not I'll be getting a bit twitchy...

It was waiting for me when I got home.    Also picked up some paints and brushes on the way home so I've got everything I need now.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Cheers Chris.

It's a 3D printed resin kit and there's gaps with raised detail that's going be tricky and time consuming.  I've managed to get some days off work though so fingers crossed I can get through it.

I may de-whif last year's nul-pointer Belgian MS.406 into a RW Finnish example.  That or de-whif an Italian Bf109E-4 from a few years back into a RW Swiss E-3.

The model is on the pending shelf but I think I'll instead focus on completing a couple or three 'shelf queens' that are tantalisingly close to completion - and focus on 1WGB Moderator duties, of course!

Okay I think I have a workable idea:

French Army Lynx with markings, missiles, and possibly the gun from an Italeri Eurocopter HAP kit. 1970s-style overall olive drab scheme.

The HAP was dirt cheap, and it looks like it was a 'jumping-the-gun' kit of a prototype not a production version anyway. The decals look a bit old, but the only alternative sourse of the small, white 'Armée de Terre' lettering I can find new is an expensive Gulf War sheet, and I'm not paying £17 for six words...

I may yet do something different about the gun...

I will check my stash and kits for those Armee de Terre markings, I might have something on those lines.

I totaly agree. Last year I managed to complete a model for the one week build, A simple colour scheme helps which is why what I was just thinking of won't work  :banghead: :banghead: due to colour scheme that may need several coats of paint for DayGlow

Yeah I've got one of those Max Decals Antarctic Helicopters sheets, but there's no way I'm trying dayglo on a one-week build.

I have your actual out of a Tin liquid paint so it needs a base coat of white which usually means at least two coats to get an even coverage and then there is the paint build up at the edges of the masking etc, etc, etc.... yup, not doing that for a one week build, maybe another build...

Oh you still have to paint the dayglo for the sheet schemes, they just give you all the 'Antarctic' lettering and stuff.

Ages ago I did some tests with dayglo spray paint and found that a yellow undercoat was good for making it richer. The spray paint's obnoxious though: glowing orange dust everywhere (including up your nose)!

You could cheat and go for a weathered finish, dayglo is notorious for fading.  Use a yellow or flat orange undercoat and let it show through.
