For when we can discuss eligibility.

Ridge Runners and Moonshiners are basically land bound smugglers.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

And speaking of smuggling, here's a fascinating subject: narco-subs: http://www.hisutton.com/Narco%20Subs%20101.html

These things are getting ever more sophisticated. Modelling-wise, you could take a 1/350th submarine kit and scaleorama it to 1/72nd. HMS Trafalgar (the only such thing I have to hand) comes out at 17.3m in 1/72nd or 34.5m in 1/144th, both of which are in the right ballpark. Alternatively, there are various WWII minisubs available in 1/72nd or 1/144th. All of these would need a bit of de-sophisticating, but nothing too hard.

And in case you think it's a new idea: http://www.hisutton.com/Prohibition_Smugglers_Sub.html

It's where stock car racing came from. The moonshiners used hot rod cars to out run the police and eventually moved to race tracks to race each other.

Would bounty.hunting be eligible under this GB's theme?  :o

As we are some 10 months away from the start of this GB I don't really want to go down the route of starting to write the rules as we could agree to something and then for whatever reason circumstances surrounding the GB change and we have to reconsider them ?

So whilst perfectly happy to use this thread as an aide memoire I don't feel we should start setting things in stone ?

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Hold that and any other rules-type questions you may have until we get closer to the end of the year, and we start formulating the rules.

My personal inclination would be no. While bounty hunters are more or less an adjunct of
law enforcement and the courts* they're not really the equivalent of privateers with a Letter
of Marque.

*Of course in the US this varies by state, because it's the US.  ;D ;)

Thank you for the feedback. That kills my only submission idea so far, though...  :-\

You do have plenty of time to figure out a new idea.  Or rework your idea into something pirate-y or privateerish (because we all know one nation's privateer is another's pirate)

Nah, I have a kit/project on my list that could have qualified as a submission for this GB, but it is very specific with its bounty hunter background.

How about the opposite? An anti-bounty hunter?

Would be pirate BUILDINGS/structures allowed?
Could be an excuse to add something unusual to my train layout...
Or even a classic pirate cave. Usually is skull shaped with an open mouth, if I remember old comics etc correctly.
I have an old denture plaster cast (of my own teeth) a dentist gave me. I always wanted to use it.  ;D
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

I will refer back to my post on the 25th of May:  Please hold all rules-type questions until we get closer towards the end of the year.
