The ReSu-38A (Recce & Surveillance, 38th) featured a crew of 3 : 1 central pilot, 1 front observer, 1 rear observer.

On the ReSu-38B, the rear observer enjoyed a better view.

On the ReSu-38C, the front observer had improved view also (while the pilot was in asymmetric high trouble if one engine stops).

Makes me wonder about a P-38 with a Fw 189, Bv 141 or even a Su-12 central pod?  :o

Hmmm...

In another GB last year, I mixed P-38 and Fw-189: https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=48529.0
I have also made something similar with Bv-141, I may look for it.

This one looks REALLY good, I feel intrigued to take it to the hardware stage.  ;D

Might just need a longer cabin in front of the wings for the tricycle landing gear, though. But I like the idea of a recce P-38 with a highly glazed and more spacious cabin. I have to delve through the spares bin(s) for a fuselage, IIRC I still have a Matchbox P-38 somewhere...

Thanks ericr <_<

For Dizzy, I try below to have a longer pod for the tricycle undercarriage he requires, together with the nose post à-la-189... <_<

Oh yeah, the long nose one looks really good.

Could do with longer wings perhaps...............  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Thanks!  ;D (the magic of longer wings!)

I try to come back to my subject principle: 1 pilot seat + 2 prone observers: <_<

Thanks! So this is the P-38F-189: <_<

That's looking good. With re-located coolers and maybe DB engines, this one could easily get away as a German design!

Tophe

Thanks for this idea of a tricycle-landing-gear like P-38 on a (longer) Fw-189 (with spats to ease showing it in flight).

This is outside the P-38 subject but thanks anyway! <_< (this is a twin-boomer, this is fun!)
