I wrote of non-violent smugglers. On the other side, my (very) dark side is rearing his head 
I have an ancient Aurora viking ship, and they are surely piratical enough.
Hmmm, a landing on the coast near Rome (it really happened) with an attack on a narrow-gauge train of the LLL (Linee del Litorale Laziale = Lazio Coast Lines) and the usual mayhem: abducting young girls  , looting valuables, disemboweling bishops...

Another type of Privateer to keep in mind is the non-factory motorsports racing teams that have
been around for a very long time. True old-school privateers have been driven out of Formula 1
due to the FAI agreements with the manufacturers, which makes it a possible subject to explore.

Why not combine them both using, as the kit is of the land based version, two triremes to form the hulls of a seagoing Beriev?
