Nightmare kit GB

i have an idea, that might be seen as a challenge.
i call it the Nightmare Kit GB.

the goal is to build a model, using a kit that is, for example, outdated, innacurate, bad fitting,...
good examples of this are the old Revell microwings/crown, or older airfix kits from days gone.
the goal is to try to turn these old nightmare kits into something that looks good, improvements or modifications would be encouraged.
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

That is the concept of the 'bad kit/old kit' GB proposed - but in the end not taken up - earlier this year, Nils.
Still one to promote, though.
I'm thinking 'asymmetric GB' next year, moderated by Tophe - who else??

I would recommend any of the 1/72 Mach2 range especially the;
Avro York, the sud Caravelle or Super Frelon kits .

I would agree. I am working on the Savage at the moment. Let's just say that I have had better kits......

Second that.  I've added it to my list.

The sticking point would be though, what constitutes a 'bad enough' kit?

One builder's 'nightmare' is another's 'pleasingly challenging'....

Self nominated.  I think we can all be trusted to be telling the truth when we say "wow this is crap".

One builder's 'nightmare' is another's 'pleasingly challenging'....

'Old' anything originally released before an agreed year.

'Bad' - thought about this during/after this year's GB vote.  I'd suggest two (possibly more) openly referenced (e.g. online) reviews need to be cited to justify a 'bad' label.

I think rules are possible.

I have hoped for a bad kit GB in years past, never got many votes, but think we should keep the thought alive. Extra points for raised rivets and raised roundels molded in!

I do not think asymmetric would get many entries, except from a few nameless folks.....Think it is too narrow.

The problem with that 'Bad' rule is that many of the worst kits are also fairly obscure, so they've never been reviewed, at least not in the internet age. I just had a look for reviews of the old ZTS Plastyk/Mastercraft TS-11 Iskra, which I KNOW is a nightmare because I've built it, but I can't find one review online. All the reviews are of the much later and better Arma Hobby kit from 2014.

This one? Built it last year, the absolute worst kit(?) I have ever seen.

Even more if it has the name of the manufacturer AND the aircraft type moulded onto the OUTSIDE of the fuselage!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I need to insert the Gif of the badger running away going " nope nope nope" right here
ive done a couple of these for wargaming reasons, the mixed metal and injection kit that was the original GW Vindicator was a dog of a kit, I nearly gave up on it, and a white metal WW2 German 1/2 track got finished for the only reason id promised a friend id do it for him.
