Thanks, Phill!

Like I said, I thought about it (& I have lead(ish) & copper wire that would have done the job nicely) but laziness won the day. ;)

The bike wasn't a build I needed to be super accurate to make me happy, & I am quite happy with it. ;D

Hahahaha Guy ,,yep ive been hit by the laziness bug at times too ..its all good mate ..its your model ..do to it as you wish ,,actually thats one reason i like this site ,,you can build a model for yourself the way you want and the blokes here wont tear you a new one cause this bolt is quarter of a mill out ,,freaking hate rivet counters ,,they take all the fun out of building models .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Nick

That bike and rider looks excellent.

The car/minivan I'm not so sure about the rust. Most vehicles start rusting where they've been scraped along the sides, the wheel arches and edges of doors and the sills.

When a car gets rust on the top it's from being left out in the open for decades or there's been a fire inside that's destroyed the finish.

Old Wombat

You obviously haven't lived in the Wide Brown Land, Nick. ;)

Here the sun bakes the paint off the rooves of cars (especially since they started using acrylics); add a bit of rain, a bit of dust, a bit of sun, a bit more dust, some more rain & Bob's yer Mother's brother. Bonnets & boots, likewise. True, it is surface rust &, even untreated, doesn't really penetrate deeply for quite a few years but it's there & visible.

The high iron oxide content in our soils/dust has the effect of kick-starting rust &, in coastal & desert regions, there is quite a lot of salt in the air & soil, too. All that dust loves to collect in the corners of car frameworks, especially around wheel arches & in doors.

The rusting may seem extreme but it was all based on images of "in use" T3 Transporter tray-top utes.

Plus, remember this is a Zombie Apocalypse vehicle, it's not like it's kept in a nice sheltered garage, when not in use, & washed & polished every other weekend. ;D

PS: I have a few images of the woefully slow progress that I really should post here soon ...... ish.

Glad I don't work for me, 57 days is one awfully long "week"! :o

Anyway, here are the progress pic's so far:

Still working on the body rust & had to take off the rear bumper to do some rust under it that I had forgotten to do earlier.

Before anyone (else) gets too upset by all the rust, as I replied to Nick, I did base it on a number of photo's of RW "working" T3 Transporter tray-top utes; although I will admit that there's more on this than any one of the RW examples.

Still, it is a Zombie Apocalypse vehicle; it's not like it gets stored in a garage overnight & washed & polished every other weekend. ;)

Cheers!

On a planet far, far away  ;)

Nice work on the camper and the figures
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Guys 100% right on the rust issue..ive worked and owned alot of Aussie vehicles over the yrs.
Ive worked on a crap load of Falcons..Commodores..Toranas and of course the utes..alot of utes  ;D
The paint gets burnt by the sun and one of my old Ford Falcons was far worse than that on Guys VW..this one came from some dude somewhere near the Nallabor area..it was covered in rust but all surface and that was it..its was a sweet car under the red dust and was turned into a beast  ;D.
So Nick mate its common as hell in Aussie and here in NZ too to find rust exactly like that.
Lovin the build so far Guy

PS...Still miss my XB panel van  :-\

Camper?

A tradie van? Perhaps but not really, it's not a fully enclosed load-carrying vehicle. :-\

From an Aussie perspective, it's not really a ute, either, but that's the closest description, I think; a tray-top utility vehicle.

Definitely not a camper! ;)

Thanks for the compliments, though, Chris!

Thanks, Phill!

I miss several of my old beasts but 3 in particular: My FJ40 Landcruiser, my (burnt orange) 1975 Datsun 180B (with 2L Bluebird motor) & my 1972 ZF Fairlane (302 Windsor), in no particular order.

Opening a can of worms there Wombie!  ;D

My 3 faves, in this order.

1) 1976 Vauxhall Sports Hatch, one of only 197 built. (PLR985R)

2) 1966 Hillman Imp (built by me from lots of parts) (CFC276C)

3) 2007 Vauxhall Signum 2.8 Turbo Elite, one of my current fleet (VN57CWL)

But there are 3-4 others that could have been in position 3)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

You could put a faded "U.N." on the VW, lol and the UN Flag and the. Fade them out.
"Mind that bus." "What bus?" *SPLAT!*
