Lleiddiad-class SSG\SSA

With the Soviet Navy successfully launching Project 651, NATO reporting name Juliett, class of diesel-electric cruise missile submarines,  the Londthyrian Confederacy Admiralty approached the Soviet Navy to purchase blueprints based on the class.  However, as negotiations dragged on, the Morgi-class SSK Siarc Teigr was trailing K-632, a Juliett belonging to the Red Banner Pacific Fleet, just outside Londthyrian territorial waters.  K-632 grounded hard in shallow waters on an uncharted (on Soviet charts) reef while snorkeling, rupturing a ballast and trim tank, and flooding the aft engine room (Compartment 7).  The crew evacuated to life rafts and a distress call was sent out both by the Soviet submarine and the Siarc Teigr, and rescued by Londthyrian naval assets.

In the spirit of "fostering amity and goodwill between the two nations", the Londthyrian Navy reported to both Pacific Fleet and Soviet Navy headquarters that K-632 was a total loss and scuttled in deep water, after being floated off the reef.  The Soviet Navy authorized the sale of the plans of Project 651 to the Londthyrian Confederacy, however they declined to allow the purchase of assets for the P5\P6 missile system - radars, guidance systems, and the missiles themselves.

The Lleiddiad-class entered service with the Londthyrian Navy in the late 1960s, initially as a training submarine for the Navy, and opposing force assets for naval wargames, with 15 submarines entering service, with no losses during patrols.  During the 1980s, the class received refits across the board, including modifications to the missile tubes to carry antiship cruise missiles (notably Tomahawk missiles).  The class must surface to fire the four cruise missiles.  Rumors persist that the Lleiddiad-class took part in classified missions off (REDACTED), (REDACTED), (REDACTED), and (REDACTED).  The class was eventually retired from frontline service, with one submarine outfitted for oceanographic research, and three others assigned to various other duties.

K-632 was eventually rebuilt and returned to service, as the 15th boat of the class, and given the hull number 0514.  With some minor modifications, the submarine was rented out to a major Hollywood studio to play the role of K-129 in the movie Azorian, before returning back to the Confederacy, and retirement into a museum ship.
