The Northrop N-55 was a long-range,  flying wing patrol aircraft proposed in 1949. Initially based on the YB-49 airframe  but eventually modified with fore and aft fuselage nacelles along the lines of the N-31 bomber not built.
On the book cover of American Secret Projects 4; Bombers,  Attack and Anti-Submarine Aircraft 1945-1974 there's a concept artwork of the N-31.
I was thinking of building my own version of this using the 1/72 Northrop YB-49 as a donor kit. Mine wouldn't be a bomber but an AEW platform using the Cammett/MasterCaster BAe Nimrod AEW.3 conversion set and some spare parts.

Love a flying wing.
That's a big model even in 1/72.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Yes it is, and you can lengthen the wings if you want to!
