Santa's coming by stealth. The B-2 Christmas bomber.

Thoughts and suggestions on this idea, folks?
Another crazy idea I've had which I may "hopefully" start in December if possible, is convert a 1/72 scale Testors B-2 stealth bomber into Santa Claus's newest stealth Christmas present delivery vehicle.  ;D
Finding a blueprint in a book I have at home, I scanned pages from the book, printed them out, then colored the pages. This is a rough example of what I have in mind. I'm thinking I might paint the landing gear a gold color. But I'm not sure what color to paint the gear wells or the bomb bays?
If I don't do a diorama scene with the bomber on it's landing gear, then I may do an in-flight scene with Christmas presents being dropped from the bomb bays.
P.S. - Read the poem after the pictures. Not sure who actually wrote it and I don't remember where I found it. But it fits nicely with my Christmas bomber theme.

SANTA'S COMING BY STEALTH POEM:

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the skies,
Air defenses were up, with electronic eyes.
Combat pilots were nestled in ready-room beds,
As enemy silhouettes danced in their heads.

Every jet on the apron, each SAM in its tube,
Was triply-redundant linked to the Blue Cube,
And ElInt and AWACS gave coverage so dense
That nothing that flew could slip through our defense.

When out of the klaxon arose such a clatter
I dashed to the screen to see what was the matter;
I dialed up the gain and then quick as a flash
Fine-adjusted the filters to damp out the hash.

And there found the source of the warning we'd heeded:
An incoming blip, by eight escorts preceded.
"Alert status red!" went the word down the wire,
As we gave every system the codes that meant "FIRE"! >>

On Aegis! Up Patriot, Phalanx and Hawk!
And scramble our fighters -- let's send the whole flock!
Launch decoys and missiles! Use chaff by the yard!
Get the kitchen sink up! Call the National Guard!

They turned toward the target, moved toward it, converged.
Till the tracks on the radar all finally merged,
And the sky was lit up with a demonic light,
As the foe met his fate in the high arctic night.

So we sent out some recon to look for debris,
Yet all that they found, both on land and on sea
Were some toys, a red hat, a charred left leather boot,
Broken sleighbells, white hair, and a deer's parachute.

Now it isn't quite Christmas, with Saint Nick shot down.
There are unhappy kids in each village and town.
For the Spirit of Christmas can't hope to evade
All the web of defenses we've carefully made.

Just look how the gadgets we use to protect us
In other ways alter, transform, and affect us.
They keep us from things that make life more worth living,
Like love for each other, and thoughts of just giving.

But a crash program's on: Working hard, night and day,
All the elves are constructing a radar-proof sleigh.
So let's wait for next Christmas, in cheer and in health,
For the future has hope: Santa's coming by stealth!

Nice! Love the poem!

I'd look at some silver & gold trimmings to brighten it up a bit: After all, what's Christmas without tinsel? ;D

The very tip of the nose should be red...............  ;D

The Testors model is a bit rough in places, the engines seem to be a bit of a problem, but I will be following your progress.

Well, that would be the "chaff". But a stealth bomber shouldn't need radar defeating chaff if it's a "stealth" bomber. ;)

You mean like Rudolph? A tiny LED might be nice, but that defeats the purpose of stealth as an enemy can spot the Christmas bomber by the blinking of the "nose".

Exactly like Rudolph, yes.  ;D

It could be an infra-red LED and then they wouldn't see it...............

You could always fit the red nav light in the nose. ;)

I still think it could do with some silver & gold highlights around the elevons & flaps.

This is a sweet idea. I think the blinking red led would be fine, it would only be on near friendly territory. Also, maybe a yellow star near the IFR panel, like on top of a tree.
I think I'll watch to see what happens, and probably ask permission to try this myself.

Can I get a Mod or Admin to please move my thread here into the Aircraft sub-board in the Current & Finished Projects forum? Thanks.

So I decided to dig out one of my old Testor 1/72 scale B-2 stealth bomber kits from the stash and started a bit of work the last 2-3 days. For anybody that has this kit and/or has built one, I'm sure you're well aware of how awful this kit is.  :banghead:  IT'S THAT BAD! Parts that don't match up. Bad seams. Lots of puttying. And I do mean LOTS! And the list goes on and on.
Thank God I have 3 of these kits in the stash. If I screw something up, at least I have two other kits to rob parts from.  ;D  But I see building this model as a challenge. Hopefully, I can do it at least some justice. But we'll see how things go. ;)

Tellme about it!  :banghead:

I gave up Whiffing one some years ago 'cos it IS that bad! I keep it propped up against the wall of my Model Room just to remind me that it's OK to give up on a project.......

The Revell 1/72 ATB is worse, loads of filler/putty on the joints

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I have one of those old kits too. But I'm not sure what I'll whif it into?  :-\  But it'll be a long, long time before I build it. The decals are completely FUBAR and can't be saved. So I need to find some other markings for the model, whatever they may be.
But as for my Testor B-2, I'm not going to rescribe all the panel lines that I sanded off. I mean, Santa's sleigh doesn't have panel lines. So why should his new B-2 delivery vehicle? Those elves will be using their "magic" to make them disappear.  ;D  And all the wing walkway decals for the model? I don't plan to use those either.
So how does Santa get billions of presents into just two bomb bays? I can't tell you. It's secret. ;)
But I heard a rumor that it might either be magic or it may have something to do with a certain Doctor and his TARDIS?  :o

Maybe it's fuel tanks in the bomb bay and this is the aircraft he uses to find out if all the girls and boys have been naughty or nice?
