A while back I was thinking a Spitfire PR.XIX with bubble canopy could be pretty cool. Thing is, no XIXs left in The Stash. But a friend (shout out to @Bungle) had sent me an Xtrakit 1/72 Mk.22 last year....add decals from another friend (thank you Sam!) and voila: meet the Spitfire PR.23!

The light today's really washed it out but it's in overall Humbrol PRU Blue. Because of course! Hoping Spit experts can spot the PR mods I added and I also hope they don't point out the flaws etc because it's not intended to be serious and I had a lot of fun with the whole build. If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Added PR Mods.

a) Cabin pressurisation intake - check

b) Belly camera ports - check

c) Port oblique camera port - check

d) Bowser wing fuel pump fairings - UN-checked, but.....

Maybe the F22s didn't need the extra fuel pumps for the bowser wing because the later wings already had the pumps integral to the design?

LOVE the look of it Zac.  :thumbsup:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thank you all very much! It was a lot of fun, unfortunately delayed by six months or so by lack of decals. Eventually a Twitter friend from NZ helped out!

The thing's honest-to-goodness PRU Blue, but for some reason the natural light washed it out like you wouldn't believe! My wife likes it too, I'm worried she won't like the real one now...

That's the one I took special care and joy in scratchbuilding. Looking at the XIX I knew I couldn't get away without it!

Good to see another kiwi around here to but get this..its an Aussie who got me back into planes  :rolleyes:  :lol:
On the mention of a PR Spitfire ..mate if ya showed up home with real one ..mes thinking wifey will have something to say about that  :o
