I just said this in the huey post but now ive got a standard to live up to
Still relearning this plane building stuff ..hopefully bigger and better i think the saying goes .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Onewards and Upwards
I have one little annoyance with this built..i wish i had a 48th Mossie for parts..not sure of what verison it is but ive seen Mosquitos without air intakes under the engines..this thing wouldve looked so much sleeker which of course means faster  ;D
Oh well ya never know do we now

'Tis definitely a brute.

The old Monogram, original Airfix release and Tamiya 1/48th Mosquitoes are all of earlier
variants with the single-stage supercharger Merlins which only have the smaller carburetor
intake fwd of the landing gear bay.

The later marks with two-stage superchargers are the ones with the intercooler intake directly
under the spinner and the larger carburetor intake. The later release of the Airfix kit included
new nacelle parts to do a two-stage Mossie, for which 1/48th scale modellers had long been
clamoring. Resin conversion parts were the only other option.

Thats the bugger Jon...i dont know what the HP would be between the Allison and the Merlin ..might have been the same but for pure looks the early Mossies engines would have made this plane look alot faster even tho it might not have been. ;D

The P-40F and P-40L were powered by V-1650-1 Packard Merlins and the horsepower was in the
same +/- 1,300 range as the V-1710 Allison versions used in the P-40E/K/N etc.

The only noticeable visible difference between Allison and Merlin powered P-40s is the lack of the
carburetor air intake on top of the cowling of the Merlin birds.

That looks really good - well done.

Cheers Weaver mate  ;D..i just being picky about the engines Jon...i am quite chuffed how it turned out.
Strange thing is model is very close to what i saw in my head from the get go..scoring the 72nd Hellcat was what it needed for the wing extensions..theres not many times when you take a brand new model and the total price from start to finsh is like 40 bucks  ;D.
$38 nz for the kit and $2 nz for the Hellcat..not bad for a 48th scale kit these days .

Very nice, I like the nose wheel arrangement.

Yeah, fantastic build, and I agree the nose-wheel is particularly good 👍

Wardukw

Im glad Dizzy and you like it Doug.. ;D that was just made of random crap i found in a small box of mostly 72nd model plane bits.
I glued all the parts together and it wasnt long after that i kept breaking it..now there brass rod running thru the entire thing..aint breaking anymore
