I have something real world in mind.
The link to mike is that he sold me the damn thing 6-7 years ago. Its a very, very large lump of Anigrand resin.

A C-124 Globemaster.............. I started it not long after buying it. But its been the shelf of doom ever since.

Oh, an AC-124, why is it not in the Gunship group build?

I have a few hunter based conversions that could easily fit into this Group Build.

Now there's a thought...........

Mike GAVE me a kit of the Blackburn B.20, that oddball flying boat with a retractable hull, some years ago, with the comment 'I don't know anyone crazy enough to try and do something with this apart from you Kit'.  ;D

Perhaps I should dig it and DO SOMETHING with it?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I've been giving this some thought, which inevitably took me to Hannants, where several items found their way into my cart and inexplicably turned up shortly after on my doorstep.

I have a few idea's using the vaults page on Mike's Grumpyoldmodeller.com website to remind me of some of his builds that were not freightdog related, and of course thumbed through some old editions of SAM. I do fancy following up on the Hendon RAF Pageant in 1939 series he did. So I picked up a fabric wing Hurricane and a Defiant just in case, plus Modeldecal sheet 108. I'd also like to do something more modern from the real world RAF, maybe using Xtradecals, or possibly something in 1/144 where Mike sometimes strayed. Can't however bring myself to building a eggplane!

Really looking forward to building something.

Ooh yes, the Hendon Pageant.  Thanks Colin, tribute build idea #2 formed.

Right I've opened the Mike McEvoy Tribute Build Thread in the Theme Build section here https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?board=211.0

I'll keep it open for six months or so.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I think that would be a very  fitting tribute.

I was just bewailing to myself that it was hard to find markings for 67 Squadron RAF Hunters and certainly not in a sensible size. Then it occurred to me that before they flew Hunters, they had Sabres.
And they looked like this.

It just so happens that Modeldecal (who Mike liked) did a very good set of RAF Canadair Sabres including those for 67Sqdn. And I have that set

I also have a modern fighter jet or two that could look good in those colours.  ;D

Airfile Decals RAF Single Sheet Hunters sheet actually included Mike 67 aircraft XF317

The Wooksta!

Pity it's unvailable as it would be nice to do as a P.1083 as he was always fond of that one.

No personal concern here, but a Hunter GB is never a bad idea!

Seconded, thirded, and fourthed!

Your fans demand it. Well, me at least. EVERYONE PILE ON!  ;D ;D ;D

And here's a non-binding suggestion: do it in 209 Squadron markings. They seem to have been a target group for one-offs, being the only squadron to ever equip with the Blackburn Iris and the (shudder) Saro lerwick. It was also dad's squadron, not that I have any personal bias or anything.  ;D

I have both of the above which makes it very tempting to put the two together but as I need a good reason to finish the two Tamden seat Hunters I have already started I will pass on that and consentrate on what I already have with different squadrons.

I like that idea Ratty, 209 makes a lot of sense for this scenario, Mike would have LOVED it too!

I can't find the B.20 kit box at  the moment, darn it, but I have found the unfinished Blue Angels Bucc, and the decal sheet I plan to use for it.  ;D
