speaking of the F-111B, has anyone ever seen anything on how the inflight refueling system for that one was set up?  I was thinking that some export F-111s might want to use that, or the one intended for the F-111K.

Its in Ginters Naval Fighters, using a sideways retracting probe similar to Jag and Hornet. The F-111K one was much more refined and would suit export F-111 Strike aircraft.

I figured out the markings and short span wings are what I'm going wtih but I really do appreciate the info guys.  It will help for another project in 1/72.  For this one however, I'm using the Kitech rip off Academy F-111E in 1/48 BTW.

Scaledown!  Forgot about them!  Thanks Thorvic!

Brad its probably easier and cheaper to buy the Kitech FB-111A  in 1/48 than to pick up the wing conversion set from Scaledown !!! ( Unless you want the dropped flaps look ?

It was on the c/l in front of the windscreen, right?  I need to do this installation for my E.

What about a super interceptor based upon the FB-111H proposal, carrying a heap of AIM-54s?

Quote from: Geoff_B on December 06, 2005, 04:19:18 AMWhat about the Interceptor version for the USAF as a NORAD interceptor. The Radar and Weapons package fitted to an A without the carrier gubbins makes a bit more sence.

The F-111D was able to carry the AIM-7 Sparrow AAM according to several sources (Jane's All the Worlds Aircraft, Detail and Scale book on the F-111, USAF Fact Files).  So there was at least one version capable of BVR engagements with a radar guided missile.

Here's an interesting comparison regarding aircraft accidents within the US military.

The F-111 has the lowest rate of initial 750,000 hrs than any other within the group!!

So much for it being 'accident-prone'

As requested in the F-4 thread - some hypothetical F-111 upgrades to incorporate various degrees of low observability:

As above but with changed canopy:

UCAV version:

Note that all have changed radar, PaveTack replaced with LO sensor windows above and below front fuselage (thus allowing use of weapons bay again) and new engines with vectoring thrust.  'V' tails all around too.  I hope this meets the original request.

MAD

Thanks Greg!

He came and he profiled!

Nice faceting of the forward fuselage!
Out of curiosity – if you were to go to the trouble and expense to upgrade the 'Pig' (which by the way I would gladly indorse 100 %!!!!!) would you consider removing the F-111's unique, but heavy escape capsule?
Would your stealth 'Pig' utilize the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) now being developed, which could utilize its small, but stealthy weapons bay?

P.S. Are your going to top your effort off with a 3-view drawing????????????????????

There is an aft-centerline hardpoint behind the bomb bay. Maybe put a sniper XR pod there, freeing up the bomb bay and wing hardpoints for ordnance/fuel

I'd love to see one with an EOTS built in :)

Mine already has internal EO/IR /Laser sensors - look just ahead of the canopy (top & bottom).

I love this, really

BTW Can any one of you suggest a British engine to substitute TF-30 in an Hypothetical F-111K??
Thanks in advance,

Is it possible for your software to render the stealth Vark in 3-view form?
