...I built a near-RW RAF GR.3 from the Italeri kit, and I like the looks of it, quite a lot. Hence, I just wanted an as similar French cat as possible as well. I do however have a Hasegawa Jag as well in the StashTM, and reviews give that that should be the better of them. However, I still liked the Italeri one well enough, and I bought this for scraps (as I did with the Tornados, btw, the entire haul coming for less than £25)

This is a Hasegawa.  It built very well.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I have a Tamiya in the stash.

I shall connect you to the home Ministry of Finance for further discussions on this matter. Noone will be happier than me, should you manage to swing her opinion somewhat..

It's a pity the late Mrs_PR19 is no longer with us or I could send her over on a 'persuasion mission'. When we were having an audit of 'The Loft' some years ago, we got up to 1000 unbuilt kits and she yelled 'BINGO!!'  ;D

But we decided it was a waste of time counting any more as I'm unlikely to live long enough to do all of them. At least to do them OOB, if I SERIOUSLY cross-kit a lot of them I might manage the majority.  ;)

There's something about Italeri boxes and box art that makes it stand out in the crowd IMHO. Airfix's current boxing stands out, but Italeri always has.

Pellson, if you think your build-to-buy ratio is bad, I build about 5 models per year but buy about 25, so about 1-to-5.

The Wombat Stash is getting ridiculous (although nowhere near 1,000 kits but, then, I've only been back in the game for 13 years)! :o

Mrs Wombat has demanded that I stop buying kits ... but I haven't.

Ask her about her handbag and shoe collection...................

And they don't get smaller ever, unlike your kit collection.

Lisa does have a collection of handbags but it's not very big & she's not into shoes. :-\

Actually, she has no vices (that I can use as counter-arguments), so I'll just keep on keeping the purchases on the down-low. ;)

I once made the stupid mistake during a "discussion" of opening the wardrobe and pointing at the shoe collection

One way to placate a savage beast angry partner is, when confronted with the  "you have too many models" accusation to offer to sell some online.
Make this terrible moment easier by ahead of time laying in a supply of kits you don't want specifically for that purpose.   ;D

As I actually do keep a stash register, I am happy to be able to tell you that the current unbuilt inventory is 607 kits, no more and no less. I once made a goal of keeping it below half a thousand, but that didn't really work out, I have to admit.

As for my partners hobbies, she's taken up knitting in a serious way over the last four or five years. White yarn is nowhere near the cost of kits, she has developed an embryo to a stash, something I'm actively supporting to the fullest. Whenever she growls, I just point towards the full bookshelf she's keeping.

I have a stash spreadsheet.  But I can't vouch for it's accuracy - I need to do an audit.

It claims I have 294 aircraft, 138 cars, 65 military, and 29 other (sci-fi, motorbikes, etc).  So only 528 in total.  I must try harder...

I used to have a stash register, but gave it up when I realised I was making it far, far to complicated. Add to that the fact that it was based on a Lotus 123 spreadsheet and my recent laptops have all had Excel which I'm not particularly comfortable with meant I stopped updating it. Might be a project for the winter months, as long as I keep it simple  ?

I find scalemates a good tool for that. I have all the stuff in there. I also use the other features but i think it's an excellent tool for inventory purposes.
