Yep, numbers matching '69 Dodge Charger, weld up the doors, paint it orange...

I need a lottery win first though.

Not being able to afford a fast car has probably saved my licence though.

Oh yes, my FAVE US car. Mine would be black or dark green with a full on 440 wedge under the hood.  :thumbsup:a

Hmmmm now that sounds familiar ..maybe a flag painted on the roof..01 on the doors
Chris has it for sure ..440 all the way ...mine would run a 440 but it would be a very long way from numbers matching and since your cars would be over $150.000 USD ..ummm come to think of it mine would be too
Mine would have twice the power of yours but yours being NM cars they are for investment in todays world..mine ..nope  ;D

Cars are for driving, not for investment.
Like models are for building.

Absolutely right Fred..driving is the main part but with the price these are getting you need specialised insurance companies  which is no biggie and i nearly fell over when a 69 Boss 429 Mustang went for over $600k a small while ago I'd be to scared to drive it here ..our roads are utter crap here so for the driving part ..only to shows and build a copy from a bottom of the line 302 69 Stang..those aint worth bugger all and those original cars are ..well for lack of a better word..crap..just me on that.

Thanks Mog.

Ironically a late sixties car made from real metal is likely to survive what Vic Roads laughingly pass as road maintenance better than a modern car as these days they build them from tinfoil and plastic.

Yeah thats so ture Fred...sometimes ya want a 4X4 just so you have the ground clearance to drive over the bumps..thats another thing which is so over priced is stupid..i can believe how much ppl here want for 25 yr old 4X4s .
I was watching some footage from thr Barrett Jackson car auctions in the states and sitting there was a 100% original Plymouth Superbird..with 6000 mls on it..dont know what it sold for yet but mate..it'll get ya a house there in Oz I'd bet and a couple of cars too.

Since the demise of Ford's and Holden's ute production the young men who used to buy and "tune" them have turned their attention to diesel fourbys.
The roads are infested with lifted, big tyred, smoke belching, raucous, penis substitutes.  My only solace is that they will all probably fall over cornering at some point.

En route back from Gloucester y'day along the well over-speed-limited A48 some gawp aboard one of those hyped up diesel 4x4 pickups decided I wasn't going fast enough for him (I was driving at the speed limit, or within 2 mph anyway...) and he decided he'd overtake me while we were ON a roundabout!

His problem was I rarely slow down for roundabouts on that route and his CG was WAY too high for physical laws, with the result he started to understeer toward me! I accelerated to get out of his way and he ended up on the grass at the exit to the island.  ;D

No, I didn't stop and offer help, he got himself in to it, he could get himself out, right? After all, he was driving a 4x4.....  :o

I drive a 4x4.

Mind you, it isn't "street pimped", nor will it ever be. ;)

I do intend to have it "bush trek ready", though. One day. But the price of accessories is going to make that a l-o-o-o-n-g process. :-\

Im no fan of the wallys who mod the hell out of their 4x4s and the closest they get to the dirt is their front lawns..full marks to the blokes who do like the guys at Action4wd..an Aussie 4x4 YouTube channel and a pretty good mag..its a great channel too.
Their wagons are modded and they do get them offroad and really into the mud  ;D
If im going the 4wd route im going for something with plenty of power..performance and comfort..supercharged Range Rover ..BMW X5 ..Audi Q7 and in todays world they are not mentally priced.

Friend of mine had an 80 series Landcruiser he had driven all over 'straya to it's most remote places.
Sole modification from stock was remote locking diffs.  He reckoned he could go anywhere your average lifted and pimped fourby could (and more importantly get out again) because he knew how to drive his.
Another friend is a plumber who does a lot of work for farmers and needs to access remote paddocks if the stock watering troughs need work.  He hates the weekend warriors who tear up the access tracks and deliberately create mud holes so they can play with their winches.

Funny you mentioned an old landcruiser Fred..Shauno and Graham brougth an old cruiser on Tassy and drove a bloody good distance ..well Shauno  brought and Graham won over a game of pool
They did do some work on it ..gave it a service..water pump..shocks and wheels and tires but bugger all else..they had a great time and like ya mate Shauno knows how to drive even tho it did break down in the middle of a large puddle of water and it destroyed the right front CV and locked to hub solid..they got it sorted with some bush mechanics and.mate to their target pub.
We get that crowd here at the camp alot ..modded up the arse and never seen mud..yeah im not a fan .
