PS: It's almost the perfect size for a kayak for your engineer! ;)

I was thinking more of a single sculls, but same track  ;)

Nah, sculls are a bit longer & narrower (ex-rower). ;)

Ah right. I've rowed a boat (around Crystal Palace Park lake) but never been in a scull. Always enjoyed watching them in the Olympics though.

I talked with my engineer and it looks as if she is not so happy about the idea of making a kayak from this model. Rowing is not her thing.

So maybe build something to use the paddle wheels?

Some work has now been done on the main deck and the first parts of the superstructure. Although I am building model for many years now, the instructions of this models are a bit confusing to me, its not really that clear how the parts should be installed there. But we will see....

Only slow progress this week, but my engineer is still very motivated on this project. Started to paint a few more things.

My engineer was busy with some other things this week, so only slow progress. Still working on painting the hull, this has to be done before the deck can be added.

Painting of the hull continues, looks quite bad WIP right now. But my engineer seems to be satisfied

The model is in 1/160 scale, this is N-gauge scale of model trains. So you get some figures for it. Which is good. Now got a cheap pack of 100 sitting passenger, they should be added inside the ship where they will be visible, but not too good. Makes no sense to spend a lot of money on the very pricey, nicer figures.

But the problem is, they do not fit on the benches and seats, as they are too small.

So I have to think of making some 3D printed replacements that have a bit more space.

The tables and seats are even worse, as everything is molded together. Have to make some replacements as well.

The issue here may be quickly minimised, if not fixed, by cutting away the bench seats down through the base & replacing the tables with rectangles of flat styrene on a couple of styrene rod legs.

@Old Wombat: First experiments with some new, 3d printed parts looks good. A bit fine tuning is required, but it looks as if I can get a workable solution here.

Good point! You do 3D printing! :banghead:

3D printing is not my mental go-to, as I don't do it & doubt I ever will.

Well, your idea gave me something to improve my current design. Will have to do a new print later today.

The hull is now completely painted and the deck and paddle wheels are finally added.

My engineer is now working on the support structure below the deck, a lot of tiny struts have to be added. A few are still missing.

About the internal tables and seats. Old Wombat gave me some idea and so I reworked my 3D model and printed it.
In the front, the original one that was too tight for the little people, in the back the printed one, fits much better.

Also made a new 3D print for the other table/seats part, this time with real seats. The new printed one in the front, the original in the back.

Sure, I now have less tables and seats with the new parts, but at least the dimensions are better.

The mass-production of tables and seats has been started, but sill more need to be printed.

First parts of the superstructure on the main deck added.

Now adding all the windows in there.
