Captain Fat Hamster had spent the war salvaging the air-conditioning and refrigeration systems from crashed Luftwaffe aircraft while being constantly confused by the odd chevrons, pluses, and squiggles that appeared on their fuselages.
Post war he decided that applying meaningless abstract designs to the aircraft of his pirate band would bamboozle his enemies and cause them to waste resources trying to work out his system.
