Got a good night's sleep last night and things went much better today.
Lots of small parts glued together and sub-assemblies sub-assembled.
Not decided on a paint job yet except that it will have a big skull and crossbones on the side.
I do like this one i found on the interweb though.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

^ That does look good - but it is more "military-style" than "pirate-style".

Oddly this tank isn't as far fetched as it may seem &, if I can find time after my current builds & before the end of the GB, I may do something similar but using one of the following real tanks as a basis;

a Russian T-28 (Hobby Boss)

a Russian T-35 (Hobby Boss)

or a German Neubaufahrzeug (Trumpeter)

We shall see!

Don't forget about the Vickers Independent.  Although, I'm not sure if there's a kit for it.

My first option but, to the best of my knowledge, there are no kits of it.

Even the Canadian Ram tank had one of those extra mini turrets.

I've always had a liking for multi-turreted tanks but the T-35 has a certain class about it compared to some of the others in my view.

As for the Vickers, there's some Wargames scale kits

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I'd second the use of sewing thread to link track together generally, although since the entire top run is visible on this beast, I'm not sure where you'd hide it. Ont he bottom run maybe, if the join was clean enough not to be sen from the side?

This thing definitely has shades of Vickers Independant about it, especially the turret, the driver's position in between the two bow turrets, and the cupola:

It also reminds me of the Char 2C, espcecially the tracks. I've always felt this tank's two cupolas should pump up and down alternately like pistons when it moves... ;D

Wow - I did NOT know that that's how they work. How very steampunk! ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Jon!

Much of 1939-1940 french military equipment had a steam-punk "quality".
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

I would assume Miyazaki was inspired by all those real tanks. And more.
As a kid i used to draw multi-turreted tanks.  Like small mobile fortresses.  I thought the M3 Lee was great because it had that big gun in the hull, a big turret, and then the little turret on top.
I built a Jagdpanzer iv with a Chaffee turret on top using Matchbox 1/76 kits.

As the tracks on this are holding together with superglue gel, and none of the grousers have fallen off (yet) I suspect they may be rubber rather than vinyl.
