Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I was able to make time to drop by and post. This seems like the perfect GB for me to convert my 1/110 Bounty into a 1/72 Red Rackham's Pirate ship for my ongoing Tintin project.

This should be fun! Stay tuned for more!
Thanks!

But do you have the correctly scaled Tamya paint pots to take pics of a scale-o-rama'd model like that?  ;D

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Hah! Now that would be something...  The Sunderland is for another Tintin project.

However, that does give me another idea on a separate project I might start just for this GB. Does it count if I just build it OOB as long as it's a bit odd? ;)
Thanks!

Looking forward to the evolution of this build

Thanks for the encouragement, gents. I'm still at the stage of the build where I just stare at a taped together dry-fit and try and decide what needs to be modified and how. Since the Red Rackham really only appears in two panels in the Tintin album The Secret of the Unicorn, there's a lot of room for interpretation.

I've envisioned this as a two-part build (with the second part not for a long while probably) to turn the 1/110 scale Bounty into a 1/72 scale pirate ship and the 1/100 Heller Soleil Royal into a 1/72 scale Unicorn. I picked the Bounty because it's probably got the closest general shape/size relative to the Heller Soleil. Now, the Soleil Royal is a serious kit, with a serious price tag, which I have been eyeing for a long while. As luck would have it though, I had one pop up on eBay recently from a liquidator at about a 60-75% discount because it was used and a "jumble in the box" with no guarantees of being a complete kit. Now, I imagine, for most people seeking to build a $350-400 kit with 2300 pieces would be unlikely to take a flyer on an incomplete and/or damaged parts box. However, for someone looking to do some relatively major surgery on the kit... and likely to use a lot less than 2300 pieces... it was almost a perfect buy. As luck would have it, after spending an hour or so of going through the contents, I'm happy to report that I have 2298 pieces. I'm only missing two small "O" shaped rings and the tip of an angel's wing. ;)

Anyway, I put the two together to get a sense of what they'll eventually look like...

Now I just need to figure out what the first step is. I think adding some solid railing all the way around the hull might be the place to start.
Thanks!
