I'm currently building an Italian Navy F-18, and I thought about the F-18L variant at this moment. But as I had already spent too much time regraving the panel lines with the folding mechanism, I didn't want to redo it all the way.

For what I see, the Academy kit is a good start point for the F-18L / F-17. The kit's main gear bays are by far not enough deep for the F/A-18C, but they fit perfectly for the F-15 landing gears you pick ! Excellent job !

F-15 landing gears suit rather well but if I to redo it, I'll shorten the nose gear a tad. It's a bit too long and can easily make the plane sits on its tail despite additional weight put in the nose.
