Neat colours!

The phrase "Floats like a bumble bee, stings like a flea*!" came to mind when I saw it. ;)

[*: Actually, first verion ended in "b!tch" & the second version ended in "irukandji" before I settled on the rhyming word.]

Wasn't there a Dodge muscle car that came in a scheme similar to that?

It works well so far.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The Dart Stinger had one angled stripe around the rear.

This one is crawling along.  Mainly due to complications in fitting a RHD Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI dash into a 1962 Thunderbird...
That and a cul-de-sac Iw ent down trying to scratch up a miniature ships wheel to steer it with.  I gave up on that but still need to finish painting what I am going to use so I can attach it to the dash so I can attach the dash to the interior so I can sort the centre console.

Engine is installed into the chassis though.

Got it in at last.  Updated dash and RHD conversion in one.  Now I can make progress.

62 Thunderbird Pirate Car - 35 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

This kit has been in the stash for ages.  Bought second hand with the chrome wire wheels all suffering from "twist off" damage to the rims I'd robbed the (nicely detailed Tripower 390 ci) engine and rear end to build a Gasser and then put it away as I had no interest in building a Thunderbird.
Well that was a mistake as it turns out I enjoyed building it and will be keeping an eye out for another.
Due to the GB deadline I didn't get to do everything I had planned.  I will be building a convertible "up-top" using glue soaked tissue paper over a wire or evergreen rod frame and I will be printing some numberplate which will probably read "ARRRRR"
