Setting up some sort of payment scheme is something that I know nothing about other than from using Patron to support a couple of channels that I like, mainly science or music related. The amount that I pay per month to each is low, only a few UK Pounds a month which is not muchand easy to part with. If a similar scheme was set up for ease of calculation, £2.5 per month, then for only forty members would be needed to pay that to generate £100 so the basic economics are very reasonable per head.

I also would be happy to contribute. This forum provides a lot of fun and entertainment and I think it is worth a few pounds every months to have the facility to host pictures so we will be rid of all the file hosting problems, pictures not showing up, etc.

I'm not against slinging in £10 every couple of years to cover the costs of the website and any event fees like table hire or new cloths. Like I have done for the Secret Projects and Alternate History sites.

There's a couple of websites I go to who use https://ko-fi.com/ (coffee!) to gather financial support at no cost. They invite you to 'buy a coffee' for the user to support them in whatever they do.

I would be happy to contribute. Especially if we could do without all the 3rd party picture linking palaver.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Enabled attachments feature on test forum. It works pretty well.

Regarding funding - I'm not sure what the benefits would be to a Patreon account over Paypal.

It is possible to do a subscription donation in Paypal (e.g. $2 a month) rather than a single donation.

Very happy (and ready) to bear a share of the forum running costs.

Likewise   PayPal seems to be a good way to donate.

While I'm perfectly fine with the way adding illustrations to this forum currently works, I do enjoy the forum, but above all it's very very nice inhabitants, enough to support if a decision on higher running costs is taken. I would however prefer paying once rather than trying to remember when I'm supposed to pay more..

Paypal offer a subscription service.
The WhatIf site admin can then offer you a 'site member' package. We could ask for $1 a month recurring. It could be a fixed sum like $10 for a year and after 11 months you get an email invite to renew your payment.

Some sites let you have a special "Donor" tag next to your name, others ask you to pay to have access to more features or parts of the site. I don't think that is necessary for us. Frankly all I want is to know that the site is funded without our IT team paying for it out of their pocket.

Re the subs and direct image posting. I've sent a message to Geoff and Martin

I vote we give it a go.
