Nick

I present to you the Tatra T-97 as released by Attack Hobby. This is in 1/72 scale and is entirely out of box.
The what-if bit is that I chose red paint instead of the prescribed black that presumably was on the original car.

For a small kit it was not easy and requires lots of fitting and fiddling and sanding. For starters the body is joined along the centre line which means more work to hide the seam line across the roof. The windows didn't fit and needed lots of sanding. Worse part were the bumpers which are extremely thin yet were joined to the sprue with massive gates. They then didn't sit on the car well so I'm claiming that it's been in a crash. Which isn't hard to believe given the driving characteristics of the real thing  ;D.

When Germany invaded Czechoslovakia in 1938 many of the Nazi officers 'borrowed' these because the streamlining looked really cool and they had a stonking powerful 1.8l flat 4 engine in the rear. Top speed of 80mph on a 40hp engine was amazing at the time. Trouble was that the swing-axle design led these to roll over or spin out of control when taking corners at more than 30mph.

That looks pretty darn good Nick.

I'm having difficulty imagining quite how small it is, a 1/72 car just has to be TINY!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Break open your wallet, let the white £5 breathe a little, and pull out a pair of £2 coins. Lay them side by side. The Tatra will sit neatly on top of those with a tiny bit of overhang.
Now put the coins back in your wallet  ;D

What's annoying me is that the photos taken on my phone camera show up all the flaws and painting mistakes. You really can't see them when looking at the model in your hand.  :banghead:

PR19_Kit

NOW I've got a feel for its size, thanks Nick. That is SMALL for sure!  :o

And if there's any flaws with your phone camera we can't see them on here. Or I can't anyway, and I am wearing my glasses.....

Any flaws (if there are any) are only visible because the camera has expanded the size of the model well above average visual acuity for a model of that size in the styrene.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I think your eyes are playing silly buggers with you mate..i enlarged the hell out of those pics and apart from one little bo bo it still looks damn good Nick.

Lovely little motor!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Devilfish

Looks great.  Didn't Tatra try to sue VW because the Type 1 (Beetle) was, according to them, a rip off of the Type 87?  You can certainly see what they mean!
