Right this is the place for any general chit-chat regarding the 2022 One Week Build

My favorite GB!  I'll be back from holidays and have half the week off work.   Time to start perusing the stash and brainstorming.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

The secret is to plan for a simple paint job with minimal PSR.

Exactly. I know what I want to do, although the paint job isn't the simplest , just need to see if I can get the kit I want at either Newcastle or Elstree shows.

#4
I have two builds planned for this, both identical apart from the markings which will both be whiffs, however as I just got the date for my first eye op on the ninth I might not be able to take part.

Already have a kit and a plan - and enough time beforehand to plan my personal execution of the topic, since there are many uncertainties concerning the livery. NMF will also be involved, so that there's another challenge, too.

AeroplaneDriver

I think I've narrowed my build down to two options.  As with last year I think I'm going to go 1/72 instead of my normal 1/48.  I have a lovely kit in the stash just screaming for some Whiffery treatment.  A quick trip to Mr Hannant's Virtual Emporium has some appropriate decals on the way.

I have an Airfix Gnat in the stash.  I may do something with that.

All my other ideas have been biplanes which would involve rigging.

I'm afraid that, for the first time in years, I may not be able to enter this. I can't get the time off work and I'm up to my eyeballs in sorting out my auntie's estate (and it'll probably be at a critical stage by then), so with other people putting in a lot of effort too, I don't feel I can take two weekends 'off' either.  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It'll be a shame if you can't, great if you can, but in the end we all have higher priorities to deal with at some time or another.  Hope the estate-related endeavours go swiftly and smoothly.

I'll be on holiday from Wednesday 15th until the 20th June down in Penmere Cornwall as my mum wants me to spend sometime convalescing.

Should we be declaring the amount of preparation work we do for the '1 Week GB', or is it just assumed that we will be doing it anyway?

See Rule 4 "Preparation" work is allowed prior to the start of the GB - this includes the cutting out and cleaning up of parts, even printing your own decals (!), but anything involving paint or glue is not allowed.

I don't believe previous 1WGBs have asked for such declarations, Kit.  I think you're referring to new builds but as with any GB 'modellers honour' is being relied upon.

Rule 5 covers eligibility of part-started models, which are not ruled out but should be referred to the moderator for their deliberation(s) ahead of the GB.  I did that once, expecting the mods to rule against the project - and they did (so I wasn't disappointed!).

OK Dave, thanks for that.

I've done some cutting and trimming on my project, but I have yet to get my hands on all the component kits so far. :(

I'll hold off on posting pics until the GB actually kicks off.

Quick question for the Mod Bods on the "prep work" rule...would masking a canopy be considered "prep" and allowed before the start date or is it wandering too close to "painting" to be allowed?
So I got that going for me...which is nice....
