Quick question for the Mod Bods on the "prep work" rule...would masking a canopy be considered "prep" and allowed before the start date or is it wandering too close to "painting" to be allowed?

Hi Nick, 'Mod Bods' have considered your request and I'm afraid it's a no regarding canopy masking, for the reason you a anticipated.  Lookig forward to your build - only a few days to go before the GB begins!

No worries. Just thought Id ask. Been traveling all weekend anyway and plenty to occupy my time till kickoff.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Always best to check though - you've modded in the past so you know what I mean.  Enjoy the GB!

Finally got my plans drawn up for this GB, and got the kits to hand too. The decals will be no problem as I can print them.  ;D

It'll be a model of the RAF's first swept wing fighter....................  ;)

Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

As I read it, I can actually start cutting plastic before the GB starts, but I can't glue or paint anything, is that right?

I'll be very pushed for time for this GB as I'll have to head home on the Friday before it ends, so that'll take much of a day out of my build time.

That's it Kit, as per each GB (inc the LHCGB).  See Rule 4: '"Preparation" work is allowed prior to the start of the GB - this includes the cutting out and cleaning up of parts, even printing your own decals (!), but anything involving paint or glue is not allowed'.

I've always taken "cutting out and cleaning of parts" to mean removing them from the sprues and sanding off the attachment marks and flash. And no more than that.

i.e. we cannot start modifying parts to fit other parts until the actual start of the GB.

Can you confirm that please Chris.
Fred

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That is the way that I've always understood it. Basically cleaning up, no assembling or painting.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

PR19_Kit

I'm not going to assemble anything or paint it, I'm just going to saw bits of them off............

Ditto, and had assumed that's what Kit was referring to.

It's the 'cutting out' bit that I'll be doing, in about 5 mins actually..........
