Thanks!
There were some bad spots that I had to reputty and scuff sand. I sprayed a second coat of silver in the garage where it was nice and warm and it dried much faster. I'm leaving it in the garage where I'm hoping the warmth will harden it more quickly.

That's the most annoying part about metallics.. especially enamels...Humbrols sliver never seemed to dry and temperature plays a huge part ..to hot paint drys to fast and of course to cold ..to long ..seems like your garage temp is pretty good .
Ive started playing with a new model idea today and its gonna be 3 tone gray..Fred gave me the idea

Yeah the last two NMF models I built were my 1950's B movie spaceships so Testor's  silver worked great.

Ill avoid metallics like the plague when it comes to painting large areas...dont know why but its like metallics dont like me
Its funny because ive sprayed quite a few real cars with metallic paint and never had a problem but models . :o
So no aircraft in soild metallic

Unless it was actually painted silver in RW. I believe the P-51 Mustang's wings were painted a silver dope while the fuselage was NMF later in the war.

That's correct, because the laminar flow wing had to be filled and sanded to create a perfect surface, and this was painted over in silver on NMF aircraft.

Ahh but this is wiffy world gentlemen so that helps me out bigtime and for me at least RW is not going to show its ugly head for a while..well not until i decide to build my 48th Tamiya Mosquito but theres a pretty good chance ill wiffy it in one way or another.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

3 tone grey/gray and subdued markings combined with the unfinished Revellogram P-51B that has been sitting on my desk for ages gives me a crazy idea. Or maybe air superiority blue? How about the Hill scheme seen on F-16s and some Phantoms? It would get it out of the unfinished model hanger and into the open.

;D its gonna be cool mate ..three grays..light..medium and dark ..its a easy one and should look pretty sweet on this thing.
I brought a very cheap Academy Mig29 last night just for its landing gear  <_<
This thing is pure wiffy.
I do like the idea of a 3 tone gray P51 and with low vis markings sounds even better

At least it would get it off the desk corner of doom! There are six kits sitting there right now!

Well, the paint has been an epic fail.

The silver paint was still soft and the masking tape I used pulled up the upper surface of the silver. Plus the white seemed to dissolve some of the silver paint. It's hard to see in the pics but the white has all kinds of bubbles and dimples in it. And the white paint was bad when I sprayed it on a couple of missiles I had scratched together. So both of those paint cans are in the trash and the Bison is soaking in brake fluid as I type.

I don't know why I didn't trash the whole thing except I'll probably never see one of these kits again.

Strange how Easy Off oven cleaner removed most of the silver but left a slimy residue while the brake fluid removed the slimy residue and the white but has a very slow effect on the silver. Organic chemistry I suppose.

My initial thought was "That's an aircraft that's lived through a very nasty ice-storm."  :)

Almost looks like frosted? Could work well in a polar crash site?  ;)

Oh dear, that's a SERIOUS disaster. :(

I do hope you can resuscitate it, it's such a rare kit these days.
