Moulds now dug out for the engines of the big Mosquito I've already dubbed the De Havilland Devastator.  Need to find the Shackleton spares box next.

I had a peek in the two Lightning kits in my stash.  I shall save the very old Airfix one to build OOB as my father did for me when I was five and shall do horrible things to the Hasegawa one.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Hmmm, I've thought of building the current Airfix 1/72 F6 OOB.

That'd be the one that has the tailplanes missing on the box art...............  ;)

I've one of those - wasn't the artwork subsequently corrected?  IIRC I've seen corrected artwork though maybe not actually on a box.

Well I've two builds planned, both EE, one inspired by https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=40964.0

I did tape up an Su-15 fuselage and mocked up the wings on it.  Looked surprisingly good and believable.  Not sure if Dave saw it but Kit did.

In other news, the first bit of casting is underway.  TSR2 wing (for a P6/8 derived strike fighter, will cast another for that stalled delta Lightning) and an unspecified engine, plus a few other things as dump moulds.

Airfix did correct the F6 box art later on, I think I've got one somewhere, but the tail-less ones could be worth money in years to come of course.  ;)

I keep having random odd thoughts of a straight winged Hunter and a swept winged Sea Hawk ..... variations on the actual evolution from Sea Hawk to Hunter ? :o :-\
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

A scaleorama Canberra could be pretty close to Gloster Meteor in size.

The latter would be a Hawker P.1052.  ;D

Not far off, but would have the Lightning canopy, spine and F3 fin too, as well as circular intakes with halfcone centrebodies.  Plus wingtip missiles and underwing stores.

There's many development projects in the Sea Hawk family, but they're all outgrowths of the same basic design.  Hunter is a clean sheet fresh design, starting off looking like a T-tail MiG 21 before evolving into what we know.  Despite the fact that the Hawker P.1081 looks like a halfway house, Hunter was fresh.

Swept Sea Hawk developments had the intakes moved forward to accommodate the increased wing root chord.

That's it precisely, I almost added "...but Hawker had already been there done that!  ;D" Although I presume Hunter wings are bigger than the ones on the P.1052, so perhaps a 'big wing' P.1052+ might be a possibility?

As for the straight-winged Hunter, I suppose it might be called a 'Super Sea Hawk' - my thoughts coalesced that it'd be a further development, something like the progression from the McDonnell Phantom (I) to the Banshee. It'd be a fairly pointless development though, but a design to prove that straight wings were just so '1940's'

See Lee's post above. (# 27) Hawker pretty well started all over again with the Hunter, everything just got bigger.
